The LIV Golf season has reached its halfway point of the season, with the players contesting the inaugural event in Washington, D.C. Who will triumph at Trump National this weekend?

These are our top four picks that could win the title this weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau has struggled to hit top gear for most of the season but appears to have turned the corner after his last two performances.

DeChambeau's first seven results of the year were poor to decent, missing the cut at the PIF Saudi International (Asian Tour) before featuring back in the LIV Golf Tour, placing 24th in Mayakoba, 44th in Tucson, 16th in Orlando, MC at the Masters, 28th in Adelaide and 22nd in Singapore.

The 29-year-old American returned to form by finishing 7th in Tulsa and was in contention to win the recent PGA Championship, placing a credible T4 overall.

DeChambeau has been playing excellent golf in recent outings and has claims for the LIV Golf title at Trump National this weekend.

Harold Varner III

Harold Varner III has been achieving fair results on the LIV Golf Series for most of the season but has regained his touch in his last two starts.

Varner III was not able to defend his PIF Saudi International (Asian Tour) in his first event of the year, finishing T56 overall before returning to the LIV Golf Tour, placing 28th in Mayakoba, 27th in Tucson, 19th in Orlando and T29 at the Masters.

The 32-year-old American bounced back to his best by finishing 7th in Adelaide, 9th in Singapore and 4th in Tulsa before ending T29 at the PGA Championship.

Varner III will be challenging for the title in Washington if he can replicate his recent displays on the LIV Golf Tour.

Peter Uihlein

Peter Uihlein featured twice on the Asian Tour in February, placing a solid T18 at the PIF Saudi International before missing the cut at the International Series in Oman.

The American continued where he left off at the end of last season on the LIV Golf Tour with another runner-up finish in Mayakoba before placing 10th in Tucson, 8th in Orlando and 7th in Adelaide.

The 33-year-old's subsequent two starts were solid, finishing 11th in Singapore and 25th in Tulsa.

Uihlein has achieved top results on the LIV Golf Tour this season and can lift the trophy come Sunday.

Dean Burmester

Dean Burmester contested 11 tournaments on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour before making the switch to the LIV Golf Series.

His best results were 4th at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T37 at the Shriners Children's Open, T32 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T5 at the Investec South African Open Championship, T7 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship and T37 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Burmester had a decent start to his new career on the LIV Golf Tour, finishing 21st in Mayakoba and 33rd in Tucson before finding excellent form by placing 3rd in Orlando, 8th in Adelaide, 42nd in Singapore, 8th in Tulsa and 54th at the recent PGA Championship.

Burmester has been thereabouts and has the form to land his maiden LIV Golf title in Washington this weekend.

Format

An invitational field of 48 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $120,000.

The players will contest 54 holes instead of the traditional 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.

A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.

A 12-four-man team format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.

Verdict

LIV Golf DC

DeChambeau has been showing signs he is ready to add another trophy to his cabinet and will fancy his chances to win in Washington.

Varner III brings excellent form into this LIV Golf event and has a chance of victory this weekend.

Uihlein has been playing well and can secure his first victory on the LIV Golf Tour at the Trump National Golf Club.

Burmester should enter calculations and offers excellent value this weekend.
