A competitive field has assembled in Palm Beach for the first leg of the Florida Swing,  with the Cognizant Classic on the line. Who will lift the trophy at this traditional stop on the PGA Tour come Sunday?

Chris Kirk returns to defend his title after a playoff victory over Eric Cole in 2023.

The former Honda Classic has a new name after Honda's long-standing association with Palm Beach ended last year, with Cognizant signing a six-year sponsorship deal.

Past Major winners that will tee off on Thursday include Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Cameron Young

Cameron Young began his year on the PGA Tour, finishing T33 at the Sentry before placing 3rd at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (DP World Tour), 70th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T8 at the WM Phoenix Open and T16 at the Genesis Invitational.

Before those performances, Young was showed signs of rediscovering his game towards the end of last season, finishing T15 at the BMW Championship, T54 at the World Wide Technology Championship, T38 at the RSM Classic and 15th at the Hero World Challenge.

The American placed T16 at the 2022 Honda Classic on debut.

Young appears to have turned the corner and looks set to secure his maiden PGA Tour title in Florida.

Eric Cole

Eric Cole has been producing consistent results on the PGA Tour this year, finishing T14 at the Sentry, T13 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T21 at the American Express, MC at the Farmers Insurance Open, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T49 at the WM Phoenix Open and T10 at the Genesis Invitational.

Before that, Cole was in tremendous touch, placing 4th at the Fortinet Championship, T35 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T3 at the Shriners Children's Open, T2 at the ZOZO Championship in Japan, and T3 at the RSM Classic.

The 35-year-old American golfer finished runner-up at the 2023 Honda Classic after he lost in a playoff.

Cole came close to winning this tournament last year and will look to go all the way in Palm Beach this weekend.

J.T. Poston

J.T. Poston has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour since the beginning of 2024, placing T5 at the Sentry, 6th at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T11 at the American Express, T20 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, MC at the WM Phoenix Open and T10 at the Genesis Invitational

Before those results, Poston had been playing equally as well, finishing T2 at the 3M Open, T7 at the Wyndham Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T22 at the BMW Championship, T3 at the Shriners Children's Open and T44 at the RSM Classic

The American has yet to make an impact at the Honda Classic, with results of T27 in 2017, T36 in 2019, T35 in 2020, MC in 2021, T42 in 2022 and T63 in 2023.

Poston has been holding form and will fancy his chances to take home the winner's cheque at PGA National.

Byeong-Hun An

Byeong-Hun An got his new season on the PGA Tour off to a flyer, placing at the 4th at the Sentry and T2 at the Sony Open in Hawaii before finishing T31 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T66 at the WM Phoenix Open and T16 at the Genesis Invitational.

Before that, Byeong-Hun An was in great touch, finishing T3 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T23 at the Open Championship, T2 at the Wyndham Championship, T37 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and 43rd at the BMW Championship.

The Korean golfer has made five appearances at the Honda Classic, placing T5 in 2018, T36 in 2019, T4 in 2020, MC in 2021 and T21 in 2023.

Byeong-Hun An has featured high on the leaderboards at multiple tournaments lately and could surprise the others with victory in Florida this weekend.

Verdict

Young has threatened to put in a big performance lately and can make the frame in Florida.

Cole has been thereabouts for a while and will be challenging for the title at Cognizant Classic come Sunday.

Poston has been knocking hard and has the form to lift the trophy in Palm Beach this weekend.

Byeong-Hun An plays well on the greens of PGA National and could upstage the others with a victory this weekend.
