A competitive field has gathered in Palm Beach for the opening event of the Florida Swing, with the Cognizant Classic up for grabs. Who will secure the title at this traditional stop on the PGA Tour this weekend?

Austin Eckroat returns to defend his title after a three-stroke victory over Min Woo Lee and Erik van Rooyen.

The Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches was formerly the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour.

Past major winners that will tee off on Thursday include Shane Lowry, Brian Harman,  Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson, Francesco Molinari, Webb Simpson, Danny Willett and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry has played well on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour lately, placing T3 at the DP World Tour Championship, MC at the Farmers Insurance Open and 2nd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before finishing T39 at the Genesis Invitational.

The former Open Champion has attempted to win this tournament on seven occasions, placing T53 in 2016, T49 in 2018, T21 in 2020, T36 in 2021, 2nd in 2022, T5 in 2023 and T4 in 2024.

Lowry has achieved top results in his previous three outings at the Cognizant Classic and can win the title this weekend.

Daniel Berger

Daniel Berger lacked consistency at the start of his new season on the PGA Tour, with results of MC at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T21 at the American Express, and MC at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Berger's subsequent two events have been excellent, finishing T2 at the Phoenix Open and 12th at the Genesis Invitational.

The four-time PGA Tour winner has compiled a solid record at the Cognizant Classic, placing 2nd in 2015, MC in 2016, MC in 2017, T29 in 2018, T36 in 2019, T4 in 2020, 4th in 2022 and MC in 2024.

Berger appears to have turned the corner and can win the title in Palm Beach this weekend.

Taylor Pendrith

Taylor Pendrith has been in great touch on the PGA Tour lately, placing T13 at the Sentry, T45 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T7 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before finishing T50 at the recent Genesis Invitational.

The 33-year-old Canadian has made three appearances at this event, with results of T25 in 2022, T42 in 2023, and MC in 2024.

Pendrith has been in decent nick this season and has the form to win in Florida this weekend.

Andrew Novak

Andrew Novak had a slow start to his season on the PGA Tour after missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and finishing T43 at the American Express.

However, Novak has regained his touch lately, placing 3rd at the Farmers Insurance Open, T13 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, MC at the Phoenix Open and T13 at the Genesis Invitational.

The 29-year-old American has featured three times at the Cognizant Classic, with results of MC in 2022, T29 in 2023 and T9 in 2024.

Novak comes into this tournament in solid form and could cause an upset victory at the PGA National.

Verdict

Lowry has been knocking hard in recent outings and has claims for Cognizant Classic.

Berger has threatened to put in a winning performance lately and can lift the trophy at the PGA National come Sunday.

Pendrith has been thereabouts lately and can emerge as the winner.

Novak has been playing well lately and is the long-shot value bet in Florida this weekend.
