A fairytale return to the PGA Tour for Tiger Woods is looking unlikely, according to the bookmakers.

Woods is making his first appearance on the tour since the Hero World Challenge last December, and his first tournament outing since the father-son PNC Championship.

And while the bookies are wary of the damage he could do at the Genesis Invitational, they are not expecting the 15-time major winner to make a winning return to action.

Ladbrokes has priced Woods at 100/1 to win this week’s tournament.

“Nothing is impossible where Tiger Woods is concerned,” said a spokesperson for a leading bookmaker.

“So although it would seem inconceivable that he could win this on his return, it would be foolish to rule him out entirely despite his odds of 100/1.

“No matter what the circumstances, we still see plenty of money for Tiger Woods in whatever tournament he plays in.

“And with 10 places on offer for each-way punters, I'm sure we'll see plenty of support for Tiger this week at around that 100/1 mark.”

Scottie Scheffler is the man in form and is the 6/1 favourite, with 15/2 Rory McIlroy considered his biggest threat.
