The PGA Tour makes its second appearance in Mexico this year, where a competitive field of rookies and seasoned professionals will compete for top honours at the World Wide Technology Championship this weekend. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

Erik van Rooyen returns to defend his title after a two-stroke victory over Matt Kuchar and Camilo Villegas in 2023.

Past major winners who will tee on Thursday include Lucas Glover and Danny Willett.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Max Greyserman

Max Greyserman has been in outstanding form on the PGA Tour lately, placing T21 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T13 at the Barracuda Championship, 2nd at the 3M Open, 2nd at the Wyndham Championship, T33 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T28 at the BMW Championship and T2 at the recent ZOZO Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Greyserman this season include finishing T15 at the Puerto Rico Open, T7 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T4 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and T21 at the US Open.

The American will debut at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship.

Greyserman has been in great touch and will fancy his chances to win the title in Mexico this weekend.

Beau Hossler

Beau Hossler has been in decent nick on the PGA Tour since August, placing T12 at the Wyndham Championship, MC at the Procore Championship, 2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T11 at the Black Desert Championship, T23 at the Shriners Children's Open and T56 a the ZOZO Championship.

Additional highlights achieved by Hossler this season include finishing T6 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T14 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T24 at the Genesis Invitational, T4 at the Myrtle Beach Classic and T14 at the RBC Canadian Open.

The 29-year-old has produced mixed performances at the World Wide Technology Championship thus far, with results of MC in 2018, T41 in 2019, MC in 2020, T38 in 2022 and T15 in 2023.

Hossler has been thereabouts lately and could take home the winner's cheque come Sunday.

Matti Schmid

Matti Schmid has regained his touch in his last three outings on the PGA Tour, placing T16 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, 5th at the Black Desert Championship, and T3 at the Shriners Children's Open.

Other notable results achieved by Schmid this season include finishing T17 at the South African Open Championship, T4 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, T10 at the Puerto Rico Open, T17 at the Valspar Championship, T21 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T11 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, T15 at the KLM Dutch Open, T12 at the 3M Open and T17 at the Omega European Masters.

The German golfer has made two appearances at the World Wide Technology Championship, missing the cut in 2022 before placing T38 in 2023.

Schmid should enter calculations at El Cardonal after his recent performances.

Harris English

Harris English has returned to form on the PGA Tour after a wayward second half of the season, placing T6 at the Black Desert Championship and T9 at the Shriners Children's Open.

Other prominent performances achieved by English during 2024 include finishing T14 at the Sentry, T10 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T17 at the WM Phoenix Open, 7th at the Genesis Invitational, T21 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T19 at the Players Championship, T22 at the Masters and T18 at the PGA Championship.

The four-time PGA Tour winner has featured four times at the World Wide Technology Championship, placing T68 in 2018, 5th in 2019, T5 in 2020 and T32 in 2022.

English has regained his touch from earlier in the season and could upstage the others with victory in Mexico.

Hossler comes into this PGA Tour event in solid form and can challenge for the title this weekend.
