The Open Championship is the last of the four golf majors of the year and takes place at Royal St George's from July 15-18.

Shane Lowry is the defending champion after winning his first major in 2019 when triumphing at Royal Portrush.

The 149th Open was delayed 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, but returns to Royal St George's for a 15th time this year.

Darren Clarke won the last The Open held at Royal St George's in 2011, causing a major upset in the process.

Jon Rahm

Rahm broke his major duck when winning the US Open at Torrey Pines last month, becoming the world number one again on the back of that victory.

Rahm has finished in the top eight in all three majors played this year, and in eight of his last 14 appearances in either the Masters, USPGA, US Open or Open.

The Spaniard warmed up for The Open by finishing seventh in the Scottish Open last week and is on a good run of form. Although favourite, he should still be backed for victory in Kent.

He plays links courses well and is in with a big shout at Royal St George's.

Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka's Open record is mixed to the say the least, but he does have two top six finishes to his name (sixth at Royal Birkdale in 2017 and fourth at Royal Portrush in 2019).

What does stand out when it comes to Koepka is his overall major record with 14 top 10 finishes in his last 21 starts.

He has won four titles and ended in the top five 11 times, including in both the PGA Championship and US Open this year.

Koepka turns up on the big stage and is each-way value when you consider his record.

Padraig Harrington

The last two times the Open has been held at Royal St George's, it has delivered two unlikely winners at huge prices.

Ben Curtis won in 2003 and Darren Clarke upset the world's best in 2011. This year, it is Padraig Harrington who is the big each-way value to repeat their successes.

Harrington's two Open victories came back in 2007 and 2008, but the Ryder Cup captain has shown there is plenty of life left in him yet.

His links form this season has seen him finish top-10 and top-20 twice, including at last week's Scottish Open.

The Irishman's fourth place finish in the USPGA Championship in May gives hope that he can finish in the top 10 and get us an each-way return.
