Aalborg

Aalborg were defeated in the Champions League quarterfinal first tie at Telekom Veszprem 32-31 but bounced back at home 33-28 to secure their place in the final tournament.

The Danish side then proceeded to eliminate the reigning European champions Magdeburg 28-26 in the semifinals. Goalkeeper Niklas Landin made three saves in the last ninety seconds of play, while Mad Hoxer topped the scoring charts for Aalborg with eight goals.

As for their domestic campaign, Aalborg defeated Fredericia 27-26 at home last weekend to win the final series 2-1, winning the Danish Herre Handbold Ligaen. Hoxer was the man of the match, scoring nine goals in the deciding match.

Barcelona

Barcelona advanced to the Champions League finals in style, crushing Kiel 30-18 on Saturday. Goalkeeper Emil Nielsen had one of the best performances of his career, ending the match by saving almost 47% of the shots, while Melvyn Richardson and Blaz Janc topped the scoring charts.

They also qualified for the Final Four tournament last season but were stopped in the semifinal by Magdeburg, losing 40-39.
