Croatia vs Denmark Predictions

Croatia have achieved a phenomenal result by reaching the final, but I don’t expect them to give up on their gold medal dream that easily. They have slipped just once in the tournament and looked unstoppable in the first half against France in the semifinals.

However, the Cowboys lack experienced players in their squad, so I’m backing Denmark to claim their fourth consecutive world title—but not in dominant fashion. Croatia to cover the +6.5 handicap is my prediction.

Croatia Form

Croatia dealt with a couple of major injury concerns during the group stage, where they beat Bahrain 36-22 and Argentina 33-18, but suffered a shock 28-24 defeat to Egypt.

The 2025 World Cup co-hosts raised their level in the second phase, defeating Cape Verde 44-24, Iceland 32-26, and Slovenia 29-26 to advance as group winners.

The Cowboys then eliminated Hungary in the quarterfinals with Marin Sipic scoring the winning goal (31-30) with one second left on the clock.

Dagur Sigurdsson’s side caused an upset in the semifinal on Thursday night by beating France 31-28. Their full-backs were unstoppable in the first half, scoring 18 while conceding just 11 goals. Zvonimir Srna and Marin Jelinic scored seven goals each.

Denmark Form

The Danes started the tournament with three easy wins in the group stage, beating Algeria 47-22, Tunisia 32-21 and Italy 39-20.

The reigning world champions also had a 100% win rate in the second phase, earning back to back victories against Germany 40-30, Switzerland 39-28 and the Czech Republic 28-22.

They had no trouble in the quarterfinal, easily dispatching Brazil 33-21 earlier this week, Gidsel, Schmidt and Jakobsen scoring six goals each.

Nikolaj Jacobsen extended their winning run on Friday night with a commanding 40-27 victory against Portugal in Oslo, Gidsel once again dominating the floor with nine goals.

Verdict

Croatia v Denmark

Denmark haven’t lost a single match in World Championships since 2017 and won 23 games in a row. Croatia deserve respect for their achievements so far, especially playoff wins against Hungary and France, so I feel the handicap line is underestimating them a bit. The last h2h between these two sides at WC ended in a 32-32 draw in 2023. Backing the Cowboys to win here in a +6.5 handicap is my top recommendation.
