France vs Portugal Predictions
Portugal couldn’t keep up with Denmark in the semifinals, exhausted from their quarterfinal clash against Germany, which went to overtime. I don’t think one day of rest will be enough for them, so I’m backing the superior French side to win by at least four goals.

France Form
France have cruised through the group stage with three straight wins over Qatar (37-19), Kuwait (43-19), and Austria (35-27).
Les Bleus maintained their impressive form in the second phase, defeating Hungary (37-30), the Netherlands (35-28), and North Macedonia (32-25).
In the quarterfinals, France edged past Egypt 34-33, with Luka Karabatic scoring the winning goal with just 0.03 seconds left on the clock.
Their incredible 11-game winning streak has come to an end in the semifinals, losing to Croatia 31-28 in Zagreb on Thursday night, mainly due to awful first half which they lost by seven goals.
Portugal Form
Portugal had an amazing run in the group stages, earning a 30-21 win against the United States, followed by a 30-26 win over Brazil and favorites Norway 31-28 in Oslo.
They started the second phase with a high-scoring 37-37 draw against Sweden, then forced another upset by outplaying Spain 35-29. Even though some of the key stars were rested in the final match, the winning streak was extended against Chile 46-28.
The quarterfinal clash against Germany was quite dramatic, regular time ending in a 26-26 draw, but Portugal winning 31-30 in overtime, Martim Costa scoring the winning goal just a few seconds before the buzzer.
They stood no chance in the semifinals on Friday, losing convincingly 40-27 against the reigning champions Denmark, Antonio Areia being the top scorer with five goals.
Verdict
France were on a 11-game winning run before losing to Croatia on Thursday. They faced Portugal in a friendly match just before the WC 2025 and won 44-38. I expect a similar outcome on Sunday, Les Bleus tipped to win in a –3.5 handicap.
