Portugal vs Brazil Predictions

Portugal should be ahead in terms of quality and consistency here, even though Brazil caused a massive upset against Norway. The South American rarely face top tier teams and lack experience, so I don’t see them beating Portugal today.

Portugal Form

Portugal had a successful start to the World Championship 2025, claiming an important 30-21 victory against the United States and made a huge step towards the second phase.

Before the tournament, they played two friendly matches, beating Czech Republic in a close match 32-21 and then losing to France in a high-scoring affair 44-38.

Portugal wrapped up the previous year with back to back victories against Romania 37-30 and Israel 36-23 in the Euro qualifiers.

Brazil Form

Brazil have caused a massive upset in the first round, claiming a 29-26 victory against heavily-favored Norway even though they were behind after the first half. Haniel Langaro was man of the match, scoring eight goals.

The South American side opted for two friendly matches against Germany in January, suffering back to back defeats 32-25 and 28-26.

Brazil participated in the Olympics 2024 qualifying tournament last March, but didn’t make it to the finals, beating Bahrein but losing to Spain and Slovenia.

Verdict

Brazil looked amazing in the opening clash against Norway, but I don’t think they can replicate that performance against Portugal. Their opponents are ahead in terms of quality, consistency and experience.
