Arima Kinen Race Preview - Will Almond Eye prove to be Japan's best?

The Arima Kinen is Japan's most popular racing event and the country's final Grade One race.

Ran over 2500m, the event is one of the most unqiue in the world with 10 of the 16 runners voted in by racing fans while the remaining six runners are chosen based on total prize money won.

One of the world's best horses in Almond Eye should be the most difficult to beat in a hotly contested running of the 2019 Arima Kinen.

Arima Kinen Best Bet - Almond Eye @ 2.25

Almond Eye is the world's best horse and looms as the toughest to overcome in the 2019 Arima Kinen.

After pulling out of a trip to Hong Kong with an elevated temperature, connections decided to allow their star to compete in this event with the hope of raking in the enormous winner's cheque.

Almond Eye's win in the Tenno Sho was over 2400m, which is only 100m less than what she'll confront on December 22. That win was as dominant and we're backing her to storm to victory with the same amount of ease.

Arima Kinen Value Bet - Suave Richard @ 12

This year's Japan Cup winner at double figures which makes him an enticing prospect heading into the Arima Kinen.

This is a race he has confronted before, finishing fourth back in 2017 but we think he is an improved beast. The win in the Japan Cup was terrific and this event is only an additional 100m.

Once minor concern is he is yet to finish in the placings at Nakayama but he's in career best form and looks to be a great prospect at what we deem to be over-inflated odds.

If Almond Eye shows up with her mind on the job and at full fitness, we can't see any horse in this field matching her.

We're having a saver on Suave Richard, who presents as the big chance to upset the champ at double figure odds.
