Punters love betting on the Australian Cup as it has unearthed champion winners including Humidor, Fiorente, Shocking and Zipping.

It's often a great guide into betting the Melbourne Cup and it gives punters an early look at the autumn stayers, which could perform at a high level later in the year.

The 2019 nomination list features an even market where Avilius is well-favoured to win.

2019 Australian Cup Best Bet - Extra Brut @ 13.00

Extra Brut is a talented three-year-old on the rise and given his excellent win in the Derby, he looks likely be able to handle the opposition here.

His win over the 2500m distance was good but his performance when running third in the Mackinnon Stakes is probably a better form guide for this run. He finished only a half-length behind winner Trap For Fools and Latrobe, which is high-quality form.

With a lengthy debut season under his belt and time to mature in the paddock, Extra Brut should come out firing in the autumn and he's a logical choice in the Australian Cup.

2019 Australian Cup Best Each Way - Unforgotten @ 13.00

The three-year-old runners have been well-backed in the Australian Cup due to the weight-for-age conditions and Unforgotten is another classy age-group star.

Trained by Chris Waller, the daughter of Fastnet Rock graduated out of her age-group wins with top performances in the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick and Group 1 Epsom Handicap, where she ran third behind Hartnell.

The Australian Oaks winner excels over more distance so the 2000m is going to suit nicely and the highly-touted mare looks a good chance of running in the first three at Flemington, despite having never raced there.

2019 Australian Cup Best Roughie - Best Of Days @ 17.00

Imported Godolphin runner Best Of Days might only be a five-race winner but he won the Group 1 Kennedy Mile at Flemington at his last start and it's tough to disagree with that form.

The five-year-old, which finished last at Kempton Park before coming to Australia, doesn't have the same appeal as other runners in Australia but he's tough and can provide good value for punters at odds.

His ROI is 187.5% and that's worth investing in.

Best Bet: Extra Brut @ 13.00
Best Each Way: Unforgotten @ 13.00
