Randwick Racing Preview For February 1

A big meeting at Royal Randwick awaits us this Saturday with the Group Two Expressway the feature of the card, which comes up in Race 7.

The rail is in the 3m position and the track is in the Good 4 range.

Best Randwick Bet: Race 4 No. 5 - Romani Girl @ 3.20

The last two effort from this Chris Waller-trained mare have been excellent.

Was strong through the line late for third on December 21 over six furlongs which is too short and the runner-up Southern Lad supported that form by winning his next outing.

That was prior bold tilt on Magic Millions day where she was making late inroads behind Invincibella (group one winner) and wasn't far off Irithea in third who was group one competitive last winter.

That form is superb for this benchmark event and the step up to 1500m is a big plus for Romani Girl as the best bet at Randwick.

Next Best Randwick Bet: Race 3 No. 2 - Sawtell @ 5.50

The knock is the time since his last victory, but off the first two attempts this campaign, another win is nearing.

To be fair, he has been thrown in the deep end via better races which was evident in most placings brought up last preparation and back to this level, he's better placed.

He arrived last start following a tough performance when chasing with a big weight and now with two runs back since racing last winter, he shouldn't be far away and was spotting race fitness to his opposition that were in the finish two weeks ago.

Sawtell draws well for jockey Tim Clark in barrier two who should give him every chance in a rather thin race.

Romani Girl has been terrific in her last two runs and is our NAP in Race 4 at Randwick on Saturday.

Sawtell has returned in good order and fitter now, gets his chance in Race 3 at a fair quote.
