Randwick Racing Preview For March 7th 2020

The Sydney Autumn Carnival warms up further with the running of the Group One Randwick Guineas and Group One Canterbury Stakes on a strong program from Royal Randwick this Saturday in Sydney.

The surface is currenlty in the heavy range and whilst the rain is expected to ease on Friday and Saturday, they'll still be racing on a wet track.

Randwick NAP: Race 1 No. 3 Fasika - @ $2.60

This lighty raced four-year-old is well very placed resuming against the mares via the Group Three Wenona Girl Quality.

Trained by the astute Joe Pride stable and arriving off two strong trial performances, she's made her way through the grades in only six career starts to date and still has plenty of upside being so lightly raced.

She took on some very strong company over the Sydney Spring Carnival in 2019 which included a narrow runner-up effort behind The Inevitable who's a live chance in the Group One Newmarket Handicap at Flemington.

The key to this daughter of the champion So You Think looks to be finally finding rain affected ground again as she's undefeated on wet tracks which enhances Fasika's chances as our NAP at Randwick this Saturday.

Next Best Randwick Bet: Race 9 No. 1 Danzdanzdance @ $4.60

Another galloper that will eat up the wet ground is this ex-New Zealand mare that's now into her second racing preparation under master trainer Chris Waller.

She will have to carry the weight to do but is a deserving recipient of the 59.5kg impost given she is a two time group one winner and is up against opposition that mostly, could only dream of saluting at that level.

Her return to the races via the Apollo Stakes on February 15 was terrific in being the clear pick of those making ground in a tough event to do so and the clock backed that up with the fastest 600m of the entire race.

Danzdanzdance will likely get back in the run from a wide barrier but with champion jockey James McDonald navigating the way, she'll look to storm home late now stepping up to the mile which is suitable coming off that seven furlong effort.
