One of the richest handicaps to take place in Britain during the National Hunt season is the Betfair Hurdle, staged at Newbury racecourse in early February.

Future Grade One winners like Persian War, Deep Sensation, Make A Stand and Landing Light have won this handicap since its inception in 1963, and a classy field has been entered into this season's renewal.

Let's take a look through the latest Betfair Hurdle betting and run through the headline entries.

2022 Betfair Hurdle Entries

All of the last 15 winners of this handicap were aged five or six, so it's no surprise to see novices or last season's top juveniles dominating the Betfair Hurdle entries. Challow Hurdle winner, Stage Star tops the ante-post betting, alongside Nicky Henderson's exciting six-year-old, Broomfield Burg.

No Ordinary Joe could also represent JP McManus and five-time winning trainer, Nicky Henderson at Newbury. David Pipe's Grade One winner, Adagio could carry top-weight into the race, should Song For Someone not take up his entry.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has won this race with Ballyandy and Al Dancer in recent years, and he throws I Like To Move It into the mix. Knappers Hill could join stablemate Stage Star in the field, while Colin Tizzard's Jpr One is likely to attract support.

Philip Hobbs has handed entries to Earth Company and Luttrel Lad. Dan Skelton has entered up Elle Est Belle and Knickerbockerglory. Last year's winner, Soaring Glory could return for another crack. Recent Tolworth Hurdle runner-up, Jetoile also sits prominently in the market.

Other names to highlight in the 39-strong list of entries include former Tolworth winner Metier, Gary Moore's Hudson De Grugy, Champion Hurdle entrant Glory And Fortune, Alan King's star Tritonic, plus Irish raiders Sea Ducor, Cask Mate, Whiskey Sour and Arctic Warrior.
