Having finished a close second on his reappearance, Bob Baffert's Improbable has secured three Grade One wins. The most recent of those came at Santa Anita in September, where Drayden Van Dyke's mount beat Maximum Security to win the Awesome Again Stakes.
Maximum Security carried a price of 1/2 into that Grade One, having won his last seven starts. Yet, Luis Saez mount had no answer to Improbable, who powered clear of the favourite to win by over four lengths.
Tiz The Law follows Improbable in the betting, and will be looking to get back to winning ways having lost out to Authentic in the Kentucky Derby. Barclay Tagg's three-year-old has won the Florida Derby, the Belmont and the Travers Stakes this season, and will be out for revenge after that Classic defeat in September.
Authentic could be Bob Baffert's third runner in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic. Having defeated hot-favourite Tiz The Law in Kentucky, Authentic fell to a surprise defeat in the Preakness Stakes, as Swiss Skydiver held off Authentic to win by a neck.
That was the second Grade One victory that Kenneth McPeek's filly has secured in 2020. Swiss Skydiver also claimed the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga in August, and she'll be looking to prove that win over Authentic was no fluke on Saturday.
Tom's D'Etat is the only horse to have beaten Improbable this season, having gotten the better of his rival on their first starts of the season in the Oaklawn Mile. Albert Stall's seven-year-old placed two-and-a-half lengths behind Improbable when they met in the Whitney Stakes, and could struggle in what is an incredibly deep race.
By My Standards split Improbable and Tom's D'Etat in the Whitney Stakes, and went on to secure an impressive Grade Two win at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Derby meeting.
Woodward Handicap winner, Global Campaign is the last of the seasonal Grade One winners who could run in the Breeders' Cup Classic. William Mott has Tacticus entered in the field, while five-year-olds Higher Power and Title Ready could make an appearance.
