Race 1 - Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips

Golden Pal brings some excellent form to the table and looks solid at the head of the market. That being said, we've seen 16/1, 20/1 and 40/1 winners of this race in recent years, so I'm tempted to look further down the betting for an each-way alternative.

Bodenheimer got the better of COWAN when they met in the Summer Stakes over course-and-distance last month. While the winner broke well and enjoyed a trouble-free passage at the front, Cowan found himself boxed in coming out of the turn, and had a six-length defecit to make up in the final furlong.

Steve Asmussen's charge may have failed to win that day, but Cowan fair flew home when he found open air, losing out by just a length. Ricardo Santana Jr should be able to find a nice position from stall five, and Cowan has shown enough speed to suggest he can win a race of this stature.

Race 2 - Juvenile Turf Tips

Aidan O'Brien has won this race four times in the last nine years, and he's decided to target this prize with Battleground. If I had to back one horse in the 2021 2000 Guineas betting right now, it would be Battleground, who looks the sort who will improve greatly for another winter on his back.

Despite my admiration for the favourite, I think another European raider will be better suited by this sort of challenge, and that's CADILLAC for Jessica Harrington.

Cadillac's seasonal form is stacking up really well, having finished a close second to Vertem Trophy winner Mac Swiney at the Curragh, before destroying another future Group One winner in Van Gogh at Leopardstown.

The track at Leopardstown is very similar to Keeneland, and Cadillac produced a magnificent performance to win the Champions Juvenile Stakes there. Providing he gets a clean break, which many European horses fail to do at the Breeders' Cup, then Shane Foley and Harrington could be celebrating another stateside success.

Race 3 - Juvenile Fillies Tips

Three Group One winners clash in this fascinating contest. While it's very hard to split the three, my preference would be to back the front-running SIMPLY RAVISHING, after she was drawn kindly in stall one.

Kenneth McPeek's filly is three-from-three so far in her career, and blitzed her rivals from the front to win the Alcibiades Stakes over course-and-distance last time out. Luis Saez should be able to grab pole position fairly comfortably from the stall closest to the rail, and Simply Ravishing should be very hard to peg back.

Race 4 - Juvenile Fillies Turf Tips

Unlike the colts race earlier on the card, victories for European runners in the Juvenile Fillies have been few and far between. Only Charlie Hills' Chriselliam has managed to fend off her US counterparts during this Group One's 12-year existence.

With that in mind, I'm going to side with another course-and-distance winner in AUNT PEARL, and she would probably be the best of my Breeder's Cup day one tips.

Brad Cox's filly secured an impressive win in the Jessamine Stakes here on her last start. Florent Geroux took his mount straight to the front from stall seven, setting some quick fractions through the first half of the race. When Geroux asked his mount for another effort, Aunt Pearl quickly put the race to bed, and was even being eased down as she secured a two-and-a-half length success.

There's clearly more to come from this daughter of Lope De Vega. Geroux won this race on Catch A Glimpse in 2015, the last time the Breeders' Cup was staged at Keeneland, and I expect he'll use similar front-running tactics once again.

Race 5 - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Tips

The top two in the market look a long way ahead of the competition in this Group One, and I'll be expecting a titanic battle between the two coming down the stretch.

Jackie's Warrior will be looking for her fifth win on the bounce, but she's never faced a rival as good as ESSENTIAL QUALITY before, and I think the Godolphin runner may lower the favourite's colours.

Brad Cox's charge had enough pace to win over six furlongs on debut. Essential Quality then won the Futurity here at Keeneland, kicking clear from just off the pace, beating Keepmeinmind with the minimum of fuss. This son of top US sire Tapit clearly has an extra gear he can draw for, and I think Luis Saez will be the one celebrating as the final race draws to its conclusion.
