2019 Breeders’ Cup Turf Best Bet – Bricks And Mortar @ 2.75

We typically respect European runners on a turf track more than those in the US, but Bricks And Mortar is a special type.

The Chad Brown-trained five-year-old has eight wins from 10 starts and his recent form bodes well for a winning run.

He comes into this having beaten Magic Wand in the Arlington Million. Magic Wand has since run fourth in the Cox Plate in Australia, so that form stacks up beautifully.

It wasn’t the only time he’s beaten Magic Wand this year. He scored a 2.5-length win at Gulfstream Park in January.

He’s a sparingly-raced type but he has been set for the Breeders’ Cup Turf and we’re confident he’ll produce a big run on the day.

The European charge is led by the Aidan O’Brien-trained Anthony Van Dyke.

He’s a three-year-old by Galileo which has five wins and four placings from only 12 starts. Included in those wins is a victory in the Epsom Derby.

However, his form has been a little average since. He finished six lengths behind Sovereign before running 10th behind Enable.

His form improved when running third behind Magical at Leopardstown last start, but his winning credentials are based on how strong European stayers are.

They win all around the world over these distances and although he’s no champion, he’s the next best winning chance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

Mount Everest has a mountain to climb in order to win the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but he has the breeding on his side.

Also trained by Aidan O’Brien, the three-year-old is by Galileo and is coming off a win at Leopardstown in a lowly-rated race.

However, he’s a progressive type which was good enough to run a short head behind Japan in the Beresford Stakes at Naas last year.

A performance close to that would see him in the mix here and punters are getting odds worth taking.
