Held just for the four-year-old hurdlers, the Triumph Hurdle is a great way to kick off Cheltenham Gold Cup Day. The 3,420m opening race has been taken out by some of the best rising juveniles in the UK and there's a big field looking to notch their names on the winners list.

Sir Erec has been the only runner bettors want in the early markets. He has firmed in from 11.00 to 9.00 at time of writing and the well-related son of Camelot will have plenty of pressure to perform at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

2020 Triumph Hurdle Best Bet - Sir Erec @ 9.00

Sir Erec is in the right hands for a tilt at the Cheltenham Festival. Trained by Joseph O'Brien and owned by JP McManus, the four-year-old looms as a good bet for the Day 4 feature after showing good form leading into the Triumph Hurdle.

He scored by a neck at Leopardstown in December when beating a field of 28 competitors and having experience beating a large field will help his chances here. Prior to that he ran third behind top-class flat horse Stradivarius at Ascot and a placing in a Grade 2 flat race is going to bode well for this.

He doesn't have much exposed form over the hurdles but his flat form should see him going close to winning and the 9.00 quote is great value and we're expecting his odds to drop even further.

2020 Triumph Hurdle Best Each Way - Torpillo @ 26.00

Nigel Twiston-Davies brings his charge and it's headed by unbeaten runner Torpillo. The four-year-old French gelding has taken to hurdle racing with ease by scoring a 23-length win at its second hurdle start and he followed that up with a 22-length win at Sandown last start.

He's a massive threat to our confidence with Sir Erec but there's a big rise in class facing him and that's going to force some punters to look elsewhere. He hasn't been proven against the top hurdlers or flat-racing distance types and that's a big question.

Still possesses value at the odds.

2020 Triumph Hurdle Best Roughie - Maze Runner @ 41.00

Maze Runner could be a winner at the Cheltenham Festival and despite his odds being 41.00, he has the ability to cause a boilover in the Triumph Hurdle. He's coming off a close placing at Naas and he scored consecutive wins at Galway and Cork late last year.

Outside chance but worth including.

Best Bet: Sir Erec - 9.00 @ bet365
Best Each Way: Torpillo - 13.00 @ bet365
Best Roughie: Maze Runner - 41.00 @ bet365
