Saturday's renewal of the Clarence House could turn into a clash for the ages, as both Shishkin and Energumene stood their ground at the seven-day declaration stage.

Shishkin is currently the odds-on favourite, having claimed his ninth-straight victory under rules with a brilliant reappearance victory in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas.

Energumene is yet to taste defeat over obstacles, winning all five of his starts over fences. Willie Mullins' star opened his account for the campaign with an effortless victory in the Hill Way Chase and he can currently be backed at 5/2 to win at Ascot on Saturday.

Sitting closest to the star attractions is First Flow, who won this race 12 months ago and won the Peterborough Chase on his only start of the season so far.

Paul Nicholls' Tingle Creek runner-up, Hitman will be ridden by Harry Cobden. The small, select field for Saturday's feature is completed by Amoola Gold, who'll be having his first start at Grade One level.
