Week three of the 2025 Dubai World Cup Carnival takes place on Friday. Viewers have got another strong card to look forward to, including the Grade Two Cape Verdi, for which Charlie Appleby's Romantic Style is the odds-on favourite.

2:05pm Meydan - Defender Handicap Tips

Guillermo Arizkorreta celebrated a huge win last Friday, when Thundering - a recent recruit from Kevin Ryan's yard - swept past two Charlie Appleby runners to claim a lucrative win. Arizkorreta and jockey, Vaclav Janacek will be represented here by LUNATICK (17/2) who ended his time at Hughie Morrison's yard with a win at Epsom in August.

Lunatick had shown potential on plenty of occasions throughout his career and looked good when cruising to victory at Epsom. Morrison often goes for the softly softly with his horses, helping them mature later in their careers. This five-year-old could have plenty more progression left up his sleeve and Arizkorreta proved last week that he can ready his recruits to win on their stable debuts.

2:40pm Meydan - Defender OCTA Handicap Tips

Having opposed Charlie Appleby in the opener, I see no reason to do so in Friday's second contest. Appleby and William Buick will be represented by BOLD STYLE (11/4), who ran well in two competitive conditions races at Newmarket at the start of last season, finishing on the tail of 108-rated Boiling Point on both occasions.

Bold Style was only seen once more during the 2025 flat season, and that was a forgettable last-place finish in the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes, where he drifted markedly in the betting. This son of Shamardal remains lightly-raced for his age and seven furlongs looks to be his optimum trip. Appleby enjoyed three winners from six turf runners last week, and he'll be hoping for a similar return this Friday.

6:10pm Meydan - Defender Sedona Edition Handicap Tips

Pat Dobbs rode Poker Face to victory in a Grade Two at Meydan last week and the Crisfords have tasked him with the ride on MAGNUM OPUS (11/2) in Friday's card-closer.

A winner at Chelmsford as a juvenile, Magnum Opus looked destined for good things when opening last season with an impressive win at Pontefract. The Crisford's four-year-old unseated Callum Shepherd on his next start at Ascot, but went on to run well in competitive handicaps at Southwell and Doncaster, without really threatening to win.

Magnum Opus flew out to Meydan on the back of a narrow defeat at Southwell in November, where he was beaten a neck by a progressive sort of Roger Varian's. Dobbs' mount didn't run badly on his Meydan debut two weeks ago, staying on late from well off the pace, and I'd like to see Magnum Opus get a more positive ride on Friday.
