Week nine of the 2024 Dubai World Cup Carnival is known as Super Saturday and viewers have got a fantastic card to look forward to. Two Grade Twos and four Grade Threes will take place on Saturday, including a couple of Listed races.

Here are our best betting tips on week nine of the Dubai World Cup Carnival. 

Dubai World Cup Carnival 2024 Tips - Week 9


12:40pm Meydan - Burj Nahaar Tips


If LAUREL RIVER (7/1) can produce the sort of form he showed in America back in 2022, then he'll take the power of beating over this more suitable trip. 

On his first start for over 500 days, Bhupat Seemar ran his recruit in the Group Three Al Shindagha over six furlongs, where Laurel River broke well but got badly outpaced in the closing stages and faded rather tamely. 

During his time with Bob Baffert, this six-year-old won comprehensively over a mile before thrashing a field featuring a couple of future Grade One winners in the 2022 Pat O'Brien Stakes. Laurel River ran up to an RPR of 123 when winning that Grade Two. That's the sort of level this son of Into Mischief is capable of. 

1:50pm Meydan - Dubai City Of Gold Tips


With 1/6 favourites bookending the card and an odds-on favourite in the Turf Sprint, Charlie Appleby looks set for another lucrative afternoon at Meydan. Appleby has also won five of the past six renewals of this Grade Two, so I'm going to take even money about CASTLE WAY (Evns) while it's still available.

Only the St Leger winner, Continuous was able to beat Castle Way last season. Willie Buick's mount won the Newmarket Stakes and the Bahrain Trophy, before losing out to Aidan O'Brien's Classic winner in the Great Voltigeur. With Buick in the saddle, the favourite should be extremely hard to beat.

2:25pm Meydan - Al Maktoum Classic Tips


Clapton, Franz Strauss and Desert Wisdom were well-beaten by an improving handicapper in the Al Maktoum Challenge last month and I fancy NEVERSHOW WEAKNESS (9/4) will follow Kabirkhan's example.

After an easy win over a mile in December, Bhupat Seemar's four-year-old claimed two bloodless victories over ten furlongs, landing the AZIZI Reve and the Free Zone handicaps without being fully extended. Nevershow Weakness might have to be ridden a little more patiently from a wide draw in stall 12, but there are few better jockeys at executing such tactics than Jamie Spencer, who picks up the ride on this progressive gelding.

3:10pm Meydan - Ras Al Khor Tips


This may seem stupid considering how dominant Charlie Appleby has been during this meeting, but I fancy it could pay to take on the returning Noble Dynasty. EHRAZ (13/2) was in sneakily good form during the backend of last season and he could be worth chancing on his first start in the UAE.

Jim Crowley's mount flew home to finish a close third in the Constantine Handicap at York, before losing out narrowly to the front-running He's A Monster on the all-weather at Chelmsford. Crowley, who knows Ehraz well, takes the ride on Ali Al Badwawi's recruit and the track at Meydan should suit his fast-finishing style - providing he doesn't get left behind in the stalls.

3:45pm Meydan - Mahab Al Shimaal Tips


Considering the lack of depth behind him in the market, I'm surprised to see that MA YETAL (2/1) can still be backed widely at 2/1. Michael Costa's three-year-old bolted up on his racecourse debut at Jebel Ali in December and overcame traffic problems to strike here at Meydan last month.

The dangerous Mubakker has a 400-day absence to overcome and, like the other older horses in the field, Doug Watson's star has to give the favourite nine pounds at the weights. Dropping back down in trip should also suit Ma Yetal. The favourite still offers plenty of value at 2s.
