Following a runner-up finish in the Saudi Cup, Frankie Dettori rode Country Grammer to victory in the 2022 Dubai World Cup. Bob Baffert's star will return to Meydan on the back of another narrow defeat in the Saudi Cup and Country Grammar is the 5/2 favourite to defend his crown with bet365.
Sitting just behind Country Grammar is Simon & Ed Crisford's contender Algiers, who's produced dominant performances to win a couple of Grade Twos during the Dubai World Cup Carnival. Saudi Cup winner, Panthalassa and fellow Japanese raider, Ushba Tesoro also sit prominently in the market.
Art Collector, Rich Strike, Proxy and Defunded could make the trip over from the US. T O Keynes, Jun Light Bolt, Crown Pride, Cafe Pharoah and Vela Azul could bolster the Japanese challenge.
Other likely runners include former Saudi Cup winner Emblem Road and Al Maktoum Challenge winner, Salute The Soldier. Super Corinto, Bendoog and Remorse will also run on Dubai World Cup Night.

Pathalassa was able to grab an early lead from a kind draw on the rail in the Saudi Cup and Yutaka Yoshida's mount maintained that advantage throughout the entire race. This time, the draw has been incredibly unkind on Panthalassa, who'll have his work cut out from the widest stall of all in gate 15.
Country Grammer and Algiers remain at the head of the betting, but neither has come out of the draw particularly well, having been placed wide alongside Panthalassa. We have seen plenty of horses win this race despite an unfavourably wide draw, but there's no doubt that the draw could cause problems for the market leaders.
At an each-way price, I'll take a chance on one of the Japanese runners, CROWN PRIDE, who came from stall ten to win the UAE Derby under Damian Lane on this day 12 months ago.
Having found the Kentucky Derby too hot to handle, Crown Pride returned to Japan and secured a series of solid placed efforts in lucrative contests - including a narrow defeat in the Champions Cup, where Koichi Shintani's charge looked to have seen off his rivals from the front, only for Jun Light Bolt to fly home from off the pace and snatch victory.
Lane reprised his partnership with Crown Pride in the Saudi Cup, where Shintani's charge didn't enjoy the smoothest passage. Having lost his position alongside Panthalassa in the early stages, Crown Pride was forced wide to make his challenge rounding the bend, but ran on well to finish a decent fifth.
Like Country Grammer, Algiers and Panthalassa, Crown Pride has copped a wide draw. However, if Lane does manage to grab a prominent early position, Crown Pride has shown he has the ability to hit the frame in this competitive renewal of the Dubai World Cup.
Verdict
Out of the market leaders, I would favour Algiers over Country Grammer. However, Crown Pride brings some strong form to the table and he's certainly overpriced at 20/1. He'll be my each-way selection.
