We bring you the latest Ebor Handicap Odds, trends and Ebor Handicap tips in our guide to the feature handicap at York’s Ebor Festival.

The final day of York’s Ebor Festival is headlined by the namesake race of the meeting. The Ebor Handicap is one of the most prestigious in the sport, and an injection of extra prize money from sponsors has helped this 14-furlong handicap become the richest of its type in Europe.

Let’s take a look through the current odds and some recurring trends, before picking out two horses who offer plenty of value for money.

Despite the fact that he’s never once stepped foot in any sort of Group race, Deja has been lumbered with top-weight after the handicapper thrust Peter Chapple-Hyam’s charge up to 112. This leaves several very highly-rated horses carrying appealing weights, and it’s easy to see why the likes of Fujaira Prince and Trueshan are fancied.

Both of the last two winners of the Ebor had spent their season running in Group Two and Three races, so I’ll be siding with horses with plenty of pattern-race experience. The first who really captures my imagination is PABLO ESCOBARR, who was last seen winning the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood.

Tom Marquand’s mount, who had lost out in two Listed races earlier in the season, travelled into that Group Three beautifully and comfortably held Desert Encounter at arm’s length after swooping to the head of the field. Pablo Escobarr will probably carry a weight of 9-8 into battle at York, and Haggas will be delighted after Friday's draw placed his runner in stall 20.

As favourites have a poor record in the Ebor, and Marquand’s mount is sure to be well-backed before the offer, I’ll take a punt on one at a longer price. Floating Artist catches the eye, but so does RANCH HAND, and Andrew Balding’s four-year-old will be my second Ebor Handicap tip.

Ranch Hand finished sixth behind Fujaira Prince on his reappearance at Royal Ascot, before a fourth-place finish behind Deja in the Old Newton Cup. I then expected Ranch Hand to fall away with Moonlight Spirit, as the two set the pace in the Group Three Silver Cup here at York. Although he did fade a little, I was impressed with how well Balding’s charge plugged on, and was only beaten four lengths in the end.

Oisin Murphy’s mount is no stranger to big handicap success, having thrashed a field including Trueshan in the Betfair Exchange Handicap at Haydock last season. This looks to have been the plan for Ranch Hand all season. His performances have been building towards a big run here, he's been drawn really well up in stall 18, and Ranch Hand will be very dangerous with just 9-02 on his back.

Pablo Escobarr was so impressive when winning a Group Three at Goodwood, and 9-08 is a very workable weight for a horse of his calibre and experience.

I also think Ranch Hand has been extremely underestimated, and he offers plenty of value at 25/1.
