What is the Yorkshire Oaks?
The Yorkshire Oaks is a Group One race run on day two of York's Ebor Festival. Unlike the Oaks at Epsom and the Curragh, older horses are free to tackle the three-year-olds in the Yorkshire Oaks, and this race has been won by many of Britain's finest fillies and mares.
Who won the Yorkshire Oaks?
Snowfall cruised to an emphatic victory in the 2021 Yorkshire Oaks, landing her third Group One of the season after wins in the Epsom and Irish Oaks.
Which horses will run in the 2022 Yorkshire Oaks?
Defending champion, Snowfall could return to York to try and defend her crown. She could come up against some talented three-year-olds, as runners in the Epsom and Irish Oaks often run at the Ebor Festival.

Yorkshire Oaks History
Established in 1849, the Yorkshire Oaks has been run as a Group 1 since 1971 and it's one of the highest races during the Ebor Festival in August.
To strengthen its appeal, the Yorkshire Oaks opened to older horses in 1991 after it was only open the three-year-old fillies.
Two runners (Only Royale and Islington) have won the Oaks on multiple occasions due to this new rule being introduced.
The Yorkshire Stakes features many Epsom Oaks entrants and the last horse to win both was Enable in 2007 – one of 10 fillies to have completed the double.
It has been sponsored by Darley Stud since 2006, having had success in the race themselves with the likes of Awaasif and Untold in the 1980's.
Legendary jockey Fred Archer scored eight wins in the 19th century and trainers Mathew Dawson and Sir Michael Stoute have won an incredible nine times.
Three-time Nassau Stakes winner, Midday scored in this race in 2010. Fellow Goodwood scorer, The Fugue claimed the Yorkshire Oaks crown in 2013, before going on to win the Irish Champion Stakes and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes the following season.
Fresh off her dual-Oaks winning exploits in 2017, Enable beat her elders to win the Yorkshire Oaks. After missing the defence of her title through injury, Enable reclaimed the Yorkshire Oaks crown in 2019, beating rival Magical by a couple of lengths.
Guineas and Oaks winner, Love stormed to victory in the 2020 Yorkshire Oaks, dismantling the field with another superb display.
Enable was a stunning five-length winner in 2017 and she would become one of the best thoroughbreds in the world.
Punters didn't get a big price on that occasion, but they got a better price with Seventh Heaven in 2016. The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly won at 100/30 over stablemate Found.
The Yorkshire Oaks has long been a favourites race and even those that pay long single figures in the market have the class to run as a short-priced elect.
Midday scored at 11/4 in 2010 and she was followed by Blue Bunting at the same odds in 2011.
The Fugue has been an interesting runner for John Gosden. She finished second in 2012 as the 7/4 favourite before going one better in 2013 as the 2/1 favourite.
Tapestry and Pleascach scored at 8/1 in consecutive years, but both runners could have been much shorter in the market.
The Epsom Oaks is a good lead-up race for the Yorkshire Oaks and we should be seeing more and more winners come out and win in late August.
An even better guide is the Irish Oaks. The last four Irish Oaks winners to run in the Yorkshire Oaks have won.
