2023 Yorkshire Oaks Result and Replay - Warm Heart fends off Free Wind to win at York

A talented field of ten fillies and mares entered the stalls ahead of the 2023 Yorkshire Oaks.
Savethelastdance and Bluestocking represented the Classic generation and the top two from the Irish Oaks were both popular in the betting. As was fellow three-year-old Novakai, who was backed into 7/1 before the off.
Nassau winner, Al Husn was well supported in the build-up to the race, moving ahead of Frankie Dettori's mount Free Wind in the market. Stay Alert and Sea Silk Road were also backed at each-way prices, despite having to give the three-year-olds nine pounds at the weights.

Ryan Moore was the first to show on Savethelastdance, taking the favourite straight to the front. Poptronic and Novakai were positioned closest to the market leader in the early stages. Bluestocking, who was slowly away, took her time at the rear of the field, alongside Free Wind, who was held up by Frankie Dettori.
At the half-way stage, Moore angled Savethelastdance onto the rail and set some even fractions. Turning in, the favourite was asked to kick on and Aidan O'Brien's filly opened up a narrow advantage.
The eyes were immediately drawn to James Doyle, who sat motionless on the Ballydoyle second-string Warm Heart. Doyle's mount pulled onto Savethelastdance's tail and kicked for home at the two-furlong pole.
Out of nowhere, Frankie and Free Wind burst into contention. Dettori tried his hardest to usher his mount to the front, but Free Wind couldn't quite edge ahead of Warm Heart, who held on to claim a shock victory.
Savethelastdance held on to place third ahead of Bluestocking, who recovered well after a poor start to the race. Sea Silk Road kept on well to finish fifth, ahead of Poptronic and Novakai.
