One of the world's most famous horse races will take place at Epsom on Saturday, as some of the sport's best colts do battle in the Epsom Derby. Many of the sport's greatest names have claimed victory in this historic Classic and this year's Derby is looking incredibly open.

Here's the latest Epsom Derby betting and a look through the most likely runners.

2025 Epsom Derby Entries

In the last two years, Aidan O'Brien has won the Derby with his top juvenile colt from the previous year. O'Brien currently has the top two in the betting for this year's colt's Classic, with Delacroix moving to the head of the betting following back-to-back trials wins around Leopardstown.

City Of Troy and Auguste Rodin were both well beaten in the 2000 Guineas before claiming Derby glory and The Lion In Winter will be attempting a similar feat, having finished sixth in the Dante on his reappearance. O'Brien could also be represented by Lambourn, who finished second to Delacroix in the Ballysax before going on to land the Chester Vase on his next start.

Ruling Court scored in the 2000 Guineas on his reappearance and Charlie Appleby has been training his Classic winner for Epsom ever since. Pride Of Arras thrust himself into the Derby picture with an impressive triumph over The Lion In Winter in the Dante Stakes at York.

Damysus and Wimbledon Hawkeye could head to Epsom after finishing second and third behind Pride Of Arras in the Dante. Ralph Beckett's Stanhope Gardens remains in the field, despite not running so far this term. Tornado Alert is a likely runner for Saeed bin Suroor, following his fourth-place finish in the 2000 Guineas.

Francis Graffard's Midak has been supplemented for the Derby, which will be run in honour of his late owner, the Aga Khan. Henri Devin's New Ground could also make the trip over from France. Other likely runners include Joseph O'Brien's Group One-winning juvenile Tennessee Stud, Chester Vase runner-up Lazy Griff, and Amo Racing's Listed winner, Tuscan Hills.

2025 Epsom Derby Tip 1 - Pride Of Arras

No horse has ever won the Epsom Derby from stall 16. However, there haven't been that many Derbys with 15 runners or more and I doubt stall 16 has housed a more talented horse than PRIDE OF ARRAS (5/1).

Ralph Beckett's colt was heavily backed against Godolphin and Wathnan Racing runners ahead of his debut at Sandown last August, and thrashed his rivals by three widening lengths. Beckett waited until the Dante to unleash his Derby contender this year, and his patience was rewarded as Rossa Ryan's mount claimed another convincing victory.

Pride Of Arras was weak in the market at York, drifting out to 18/1 before the off. Yet, Beckett's contender travelled like the class horse throughout, muscling his way into contention before stretching clear in the closing stages.

This New Bay colt may not have the regal breeding of some of his counterparts. Yet, his three siblings - two of which have won around Epsom - have all scored over a mile-and-a-half and New Bay's progeny often deal well with cut in the ground. Ryan should have no trouble finding cover from his wide draw and I'm confident Pride Of Arras has the turn-of-foot required to excel around this tricky track.

2025 Epsom Derby Tip 2 - Tuscan Hills

With 19 runners in the field and most bookies paying out on the first four places, there's scope for an each-way punt in this year's Derby too. Damysus and Stanhope Gardens were near the head of my shortlist for a value selection, but Damysus is a little too short in the market at 12s and Stanhope Gardens could struggle from a low draw in stall two.

Like Pride Of Arras, TUSCAN HILLS (80/1) didn't make his three-year-old reappearance until the Dante Stakes. Raphael Freire's youngster travelled nicely at York and, although he didn't pick up as well as the impressive winner, Tuscan Hills kept on gamely to finish a not-so-distant seventh.

David Egan's mount was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile. Tuscan Hills went into the Tankard Stakes at Pontefract on the back of a debut win at Thirsk and handled soft ground really well when claiming an impressive five-length triumph in what should have been a competitive Listed contest.

There's Epsom glory in Tuscan Hills' pedigree. His dam is by one of the most famous Derby winners in Sea The Stars and out of 2005 Oaks winner Eswarah. Night Of Thunder has produced plenty of top middle-distance horses too, so I see no reason why Tuscan Hills won't relish the challenge of the Derby.
