Luxembourg already sat atop the Derby betting prior to his run in the 2000 Guineas. Aidan O'Brien's charge was no match for Coroebus or Native Trail over a mile, but stayed on strongly to finish third, causing QuinnBet to cut Luxembourg into 9/4 favouritism for the Derby.
Charlie Appleby saddled a 1-2 in that Classic and will be looking for his third Derby win in the last four years. Unbeaten Godolphin colt, New London currently sits second in the Epsom betting. He could be joined in the field by recent Newbury winner Walk Of Stars and Blue Riband Trial winner Nahanni.
Sadly, the Queen's runner, Reach For The Moon will not be ready in time to take up his Derby entry. Her Majesty could be represented by William Haggas' duo of Educator and General Idea, on the year of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The youngest of Aidan's two sons, Donnacha O'Brien could throw Ballysax Stakes winner Piz Badile into the mix. Joseph O'Brien could be represented by Buckaroo, who finished second to Piz Badile in the Ballysax before bolting up over a mile in the Tetrarch Stakes last time out.
Coroebus and Native Trail are entered in the Derby, but neither will step up to a mile-and-a-half. Guineas fourth Eydon could step up in trip at Epsom, as could Aidan O'Brien's Point Lonsdale. Westover got the better of Cash when they met in the Sandown Derby Trial last month, and both look likely to take up their Classic entries.
Other likely runners at the 2022 Epsom Derby Festival include Sir Michael Stoute's Desert Crown, James Ferguson's Group One-winning juvenile El Bodegon and John Gosden's Magisterial. Aikhal, Stone Age, Bayside Boy, Claymore and Royal Patronage have also been handed Derby entries.
