Battaash has lit up the track at Goodwood for the last four years, posting impressive performances when winning the King George Stakes in 2017, '18, '19 and 2020. Charlie Hills' star will bid for a stunning fifth King George victory in a row on Friday, and Hills told the Racing Post that he "couldn't be happier" with his stable star.

"He had his first swinging canter since Ascot last Wednesday and we were all happy with him." Hills said. "We couldn't be happier than where he is at this stage ahead of Goodwood."

"He wasn't in the yard all that long before Ascot, I thought he ran a massive race in the circumstances considering how long he'd been in training. They went very fast that day and we know that track doesn't really lend itself to all of the attributes he has."

"It's great that we won the King's Stand last year, but we all know a track like Goodwood will suit him a lot better."

Stradivarius has been the star name in the staying division for half a decade now. John Gosden's seven-year-old will attempt to win the Goodwood Cup on day one for the fifth year in a row, and Gosden said his star was raring to go once again, despite his defeat in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

"He's been in good order since Royal Ascot." Gosden told Sky Sports. "The Gold Cup was a fascinating race and Subjectivist put in a superb performance,"

"I'd love to have got in a race with the winner, but we never had the opportunity to get there and that's life."

"I think Frankie (Dettori), having ridden him so brilliantly in previous Gold Cups, seemed to have a brainstorm and sit 12 lengths of the pace!"

"I'm sorry that Subjectivist is not able to run next week, it's heartbreaking for everyone involved and it would have been great to have enjoyed a 'Duel on the Downs'."

Gosden also revealed on Tuesday that another of his stars, Palace Pier would miss the Sussex Stakes after a blood abnormality.

“Palace Pier had a blood disorder after his win in the Queen Anne and it’s taken some time to come right." Gosden told the Racing Post.

"He’s now back in full training but the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood will come too soon for him. He will therefore go straight to the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 15.”

With Ascot Gold Cup winner, Subjectivist out for the rest of the season, Stradivarius is best priced at 10/11 to make it five Goodwood Cups in a row. Battaash can be found at 6/4 in the King George Stakes betting, meaning this history-making double currently would return just under 4/1 with Unibet. Worth a pound, or two?
