2023 Nassau Stakes Result and Replay - Al Husn hands Crowley another Group One win

Three-time Group One winner, Blue Rose Cen travelled over to England for the first time and Christopher Head's three-year-old entered the stalls as the odds-on favourite. Defending champion, Nashwa sat second in the market, ahead of Joseph O'Brien's raider Above The Curve.

Roger Varian's Al Husn drifted out to 9/1 before the off. Caernarfon and Never Ending Story bolstered the three-year-old contingent in Thursday's main event.

Ryan Moore was keen to make the most of Above The Curve, pushing his mount into an early three-length lead. Al Husn sat second next to Blue Rose Cen, as Hollie Doyle and Nashwa took their time at the rear of the field.

Moore steadied the pace down as the field climbed the Goodwood hill, allowing Al Husn to close the gap at the halfway stage. As the field straightened up for home, Aurelien Lemaitre angled Blue Rose Cen towards the cut-away, but he had the door slammed in his face by Ryan Moore and the French raider had her momentum checked.

Al Husn had traveled sweetly throughout and Jim Crowley was the first jockey to commit. Above The Curve kept fighting along the inside rail and Nashwa attempted to make up ground down the centre of the track, only for Al Husn to find a little extra in the closing stages to claim a first Group One success.

Above The Curve held on to finish third ahead of Nashwa, with the luckless Blue Rose Cen crossing the line back in fourth. Caernarfon never really got involved, with Never Ending Story crossing the line last of the six.
