2025 Grand National Runners

I Am Maximus ran out a hugely impressive winner of last year's Grand National, as Willie Mullins claimed Champion Trainer honours. The defending champion has endured a tough season and will carry a top-weight of 11-12. Yet, after Mullins won the first four Grade Ones at Aintree on Thursday, money arrived for I Am Maximus, who is now the clear favourite to retain his crown.

Earlier in the week, there has been a three-way battle for favouritism. Iroko, who has been trained for this race by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, was one of the horses involved and he's the only one of the three who remains on a single-figure price.

Cross Country Chase winner Stumptown was heavily backed earlier in the week, but has drifted slightly since the move for I Am Maximus. As has Irish Grand National winner Intense Raffles, and Tom Gibney's star can be backed at 12/1.

Along with the market leader, Willie Mullins will be represented Thyestes and BobbyJo winner Nick Rocket, bet365 Gold Cup hero Minella Cocooner, Irish Gold Cup runner-up Grangeclare West, and last year's National seventh Meetingofthewaters.

Stumptown is one of a handful of runners for Gavin Cromwell, who'll also be represented by 2023 runner-up Vanillier, and recent Leopardstown scorer Perceval Legallois. Shark Hanlon's former King George winner, Hewick has been well-backed for the Grand National in recent weeks. Gordon Elliott's Three Card Brag, and Henry De Bromhead's duo of Senior Chief and Minella Indo also feature in the market.

Paul Nicholls has pointed Coral Gold Cup winner Kandoo Kid at the world's most famous handicap. The former Champion Trainer will also be represented by hardy stayer Threeunderthrufive, multiple Grade One winner Bravemansgame, and big Festival regular Hitman.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' Beauport could come in for support if punters latch onto his proven National form. Other leading home fancies include Beauport's stablemate Broadway Boy, Nicky Henderson's novice Hyland, recent Uttoxeter winner Monbeg Genius, and another multiple Grade One winner, Chantry House.
