12 months ago, Greenwood's assessment of Tiger Roll saw Michael O'Leary immediately declare the former two-time National winner a non-runner. Tiger Roll was, again, handed a mark in the low 160s when the 2022 weights were announced on Tuesday, forcing O'Leary to release a similarly damning statement.

"Tiger Roll is now 12." O'Leary said. "He is clearly not as good as he was at eight or nine, yet the UK handicapper now rates him 2lb higher than his 159 rating in April 2019, when he won both the Boyne Hurdle and the Grand National."

"This rating is absurd and unfair on a 12-year-old chaser. It is a pity that the handicapper won't give Tiger Roll either a fair rating or a fair weight in the Grand National, where he could at least try to emulate Red Rum's three Grand National wins."

"Since we are responsible for the welfare of Tiger Roll, we must protect him from the idiotic opinion of this handicapper. We therefore regret to announce that he will not run in this year's Grand National."

Henry De Bromhead watched Rachael Blackmore ride his entrant, Minella Times to victory 12 months ago. Minella Times was rated 145 when he won in 2021. Despite failing to finish on his two starts since that victory, De Bromhead seemed shocked when Greenwood handed the defending champion a rating of 161.

“I’m surprised he’s that.” said Henry de Bromhead. “I didn’t think he went up as much as that after he won and going on his form this year I’m surprised he got increased."

17 of the top 20 highest-rated horses in the Grand National entries are trained in Ireland. Gordon Elliott, who accounts for 19 of the current entries, trains the top two in the weights, with Conflated and Galvin both being rated at 167.

Ted Walsh's Any Second Now was handed a seven-pound hike in the ratings after finishing third behind Minella Times 12 months ago. Burrows Saint crossed the line a distant fourth 12 months ago, and he will run off the same mark of 156, should Willie Mullins confirm his nine-year-old in the final field.

Highest-rated amongst the home challengers is Nicky Henderson's Gold Cup contender Chantry House, who was handed a mark of 160. Former Cross Country winner Easysland, who was moved from France to Jonjo O'Neill's stable at the start of the season, was rated just one pound short of Chantry House.

Despite his inflated mark, Any Second Now remains the ante-post favourite for the Grand National with most firms. Gordon Elliott's Escaria Ten was backed into joint-favourite after being handed a rating of 152. Becher Chase winner, Snow Leopardess needs 17 of the top 40 to come out in order to get a run in the National, but that hasn't stopped punters from backing Charlie Longsdon's mare into 16/1.

Thyestes Chase victory, Longhouse Poet joins Gordon Elliott's trio of Galvin, Mount Ida and Run Wild Fred on the 20/1 mark. Last year's fifth, Farclas was backed into 25s after the weights were announced, despite being handed a six-pound higher mark than 12 months ago. Fiddlerontheroof has also been supported in the last 24 hours, after going up just five pounds following a narrow defeat in the Ladbrokes Trophy.

Other notable market movers since the weights were announced include Gordon Elliott's Braeside and Paul Nolan's Discorama, who've been cut into 33/1. Cloth Cap, who went off as favourite for last year's Grand National, was also clipped into 33s.
