On Saturday, the best colts in the sport will gather on the Rowley Mile and do battle in the 2000 Guineas. Many of the sport's finest colts have won this Group One and the betting for this year's renewal is dominated by an Aidan O'Brien runner.

2024 2000 Guineas Runners
It looks like a field of 11 will be confirmed for the opening Classic of the season on Saturday, the smallest field since 2017. Some runners may have been scared away by the overwhelming strength of City Of Troy, who'll be Aidan O'Brien's sole representative.
City Of Troy was handed a superb juvenile rating of 125, following victories in the Superlative Stakes and the Dewhurst - which the statistics show is the best lead-up race for the 2000 Guineas. On breeding, the favourite should have no trouble at all seeing out a mile. However, his dam, Forever Together failed to kick on as a three-year-old and his four siblings managed one win from 26 starts as three and four-year-olds.
Leading the chasing pack is Rosallion, who ran out an impressive winner of the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on his final juvenile start. After stablemate Haatem won the Craven on his reappearance, Richard Hannon was quick to suggest that Rosallion is much the more talented of the two and was pleased with how his Grade One winner had done over the winter.
William Buick and Charlie Appleby team up with Notable Speech, who has won three times at Kempton this season and will make his turf debut in Saturday's Classic. Karl Burke's Night Raider will also be having his first start on turf this weekend, having claimed two impressive victories on the all-weather at Southwell.
Clive Cox has been rather bullish about the chances of Ghostwriter, who saw out a mile well when ending his unbeaten juvenile campaign with victory in the Royal Lodge. Alyanaabi will renew rivalries with City Of Troy, having followed the favourite home in the Dewhurst Stakes in October.
Haatem, fifth in the Dewhurst, earned his spot in this Classic by winning the Craven Stakes on his reappearance. Dewhurst sixth, Iberian looks set to represent Charlie Hills. Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan team up with Middle Park runner-up Task Force. Kevin Ryan's Inisherin and Ed Walker's Ten Bob Tony round off the field.

2024 2000 Guineas Stakes Tips
Despite the negatives that cropped up in his breeding, City Of Troy is a top-class animal and he would be a worthy winner of this fabled Classic. That being said, I have no interest in backing the market leader at 4/6 and there are several viable alternatives to consider.
At the ante-post stage, I backed TASK FORCE (20/1), as I expect him to improve plenty once stepped up beyond sprinting distances.
Ralph Beckett's colt won the Listed 2YO Trophy Stakes on his second start at Ripon and lost nothing in defeat to Vandeek. Task Force is by a former 2000 Guineas winner in Frankel, and out of the Juddmonte mare Special Duty, who completed the British and Irish 1000 Guineas double during her career.
Classic success is in Task Force's blood and I'd be more than happy to back him again at 20/1. There is, however, a niggling doubt about the form of the yard, as Beckett has managed just one winner from 25 runners since the turf season got underway.
Another who interests me is ALYANAABI (16/1). Owen Burrow's colt has already won on the Rowley Mile and found only City Of Troy too good in the Dewhurst. Yet, Jim Crowley's mount is a longer price than the two all-weather winners.
You could see the penny drop for Alyanaabi in the Tattersalls Stakes. Going into the dip, Crowley's mount seemed to be floundering in seventh, but once he met the rising ground, Alyanaabi flew home to snatch victory away from Boiling Point.
Again in the Dewhurst, Burrows' colt looked a little at sea going through the dip, but finished his race well to cross the line three lengths adrift of City Of Troy. Too Darn Hot enjoyed a strong first year as a sire and his progeny have hit the ground running this season too. 16/1 about Alyanaabi is far too big.
