The Hong Kong Mile is run over the 1600m at Sha Tin and is the third of four Group 1s run on the Hong Kong International Race Day.

Soul Rush is a favourite to win the 2024 Hong Kong Mile, but is there value elsewhere in the field?

Best Bet - Lazzat

He lost not admirers in The Golden Eagle despite tasting defeat for the first time in that 1500m Rosehill feature, where Lazzat was brave when runner-up in a fast-run affair.

That Australian run was his first overseas trip, which could easily bring the four-year-old on for this Hong Kong Mile tilt and he did have to recover in that last outing (bumped after an awkward jump).

Lazzat does need to tick the 1600m box, which looks the main query here for the son of Territories, although a softer time of things up front here will help him run out the trip.

Next Best Bet - Soul Rush

Following a fourth-place in the 2023 Hong Kong Mile, Soul Rush has arguably been in career best form this year, with two wins and two placings recorded from four outings in 2024.

He was terrific without luck in last year's attempt, where the entire was unbalanced early and after settling at the rear, he sustained a wide run and he's going better this time around.

Soul Rush broke through at Group 1 level via The Mile Championship on November 17 and under Joao Moreira, he'll aim for a tow into the race from off the speed before launching late.

Value Bet - Beauty Eternal

Beauty Eternal saluted at Group 1 level over this track/trip three starts back when successful in the Champions Mile, although he has been well held in both outings this season.

While there are question marks going off his last two performances, he's now a double figure quote off shorter starting prices and Zac Purton persists with the six-year-old.

He travelled well in a recent trial and along with being one of the more talented locals, it's also worth respecting the $4.60 starting price vs Golden Sixty in last year's Hong Kong Mile.
