Ka Ying Rising is a short-priced fav for the 2024 Hong Kong Sprint and he couldn't have been more impressive on November 17 when setting a new 1200m track record at Sha Tin.

He ran slick time despite being looked after late under Zac Purton, who can become the most successful jockey in the history of this Group 1 (currently tied with Brett Prebble on three wins).

The son of Shamexpress is trained by David Hayes, who is searching for his second win in the Hong Kong Sprint and The Everest quote for 2025 will tighten even more should he impress again.

Next Best Bet - Satono Reve

The Group 1 Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama on September 29 was brutally run even for Japanese standards, with that 1200m race completed in a very slick time of 1:07.00.

On raw numbers, that's more than 2.5-lengths faster than any race that Ka Ying Rising has ever contested and in regards to The Everest, it's two lengths quicker than the faster ever edition of that feature.

What does that mean here? Not much given it's a different jurisdiction and times relative for the day are most important, but Satono Reve brings a $3 starting price from that Japanese affair.

Toshin Macau produced arguably the best performance in the fast-run Sprinters Stakes, where he spotted the eventual winner too much ground, but he was hard to miss late.
