The day after the Irish 2000 Guineas is crowned at the Curragh, fillies will take center stage in the Irish 1000 Guineas, which headlines another excellent card on Sunday.

Dominating this betting heat is Dermot Weld's Tahiyra, who won both of her two-year-old starts in 2022. Despite the race coming a few weeks too soon, according to her trainer, Tahiyra was only beaten half-a-length by Mawj in the British 1000 Guineas earlier this month and Weld's star is currently 4/7 to go one better on Sunday.

Meditate was Aidan O'Brien's sole representative in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and ran a decent enough race to finish sixth. Mediate will be joined in the field by Jackie Oh, who was supplemented into this Classic earlier in the week.

Dermot Weld and the Aga Khan will be represented by Tahiyra's stablemate Tarawa. Eternal Silence makes her reappearance for Jessica Harrington. Fozzy Stack is double-handed, with Aspen Grove and You Send Me both likely to take up their Irish Guineas Weekend entries.

John Quinn's Breege makes the trip over to Ireland for Sunday's feature. Dower House and Jim Bolger's Comhra round off the field.

I'd like nothing more than to see Tahiyra claim an emphatic victory, as racing is a sport that needs superstars. 8/15, however, isn't a price that interests me, so I'll look further afield to try and find some value.

I've never been convinced that Meditate really wants to be going a mile and I haven't been particularly impressed by either Tarawa or Jackie Oh. A chance can be taken on YOU SEND ME who, on RPRs, has improved by 20 pounds with each of her three starts.

Fozzy Stack's filly ran just once as a juvenile, staying on from the rear to finish fifth over this course-and-distance. You Send Me had filled out noticeably ahead of her reappearance at Cork, where Stack's filly powered home to win by three-and-a-half lengths.

Colin Keane's mount then tackled her elders in the Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown two weeks ago. You Send Me was sent to the front rounding the bend, but hung left towards the rail when Power Under Me delivered her challenge. Once she got her bearings, Stack's filly kept on again, eventually losing out by just half a length.

It's doubtful whether we'll see a similarly giant leap in RPRs on Sunday. If that were to happen, then You Send Me may even have Tahiyra's number. Yet, this daughter of Starspangledbanner wouldn't need to have come on much to get involved in the battle for the places. She'll be my each-way selection.
