The opening day of racing at the Dublin Racing Festival is headlined by the Irish Gold Cup. This prestigious Grade One has been won by many of Ireland's finest chasers and it's the currently Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite who dominates the betting for this year's renewal.
We've taken a look through the betting for the 2023 Irish Gold Cup and picked out our best betting tips.

Galopin Des Champs' road to the Cheltenham Gold Cup started at Punchestown, where Willie Mullins' star thrashed Fakir D'Oudairies in the John Durkan Memorial Chase. The favourite settled nicely under Paul Townend that day and looked more than ready for the step up to three miles. 1/3 seems like a fair enough price.
Willie Mullins has also entered up Stattler, who was narrowly beaten by Minella Indo on his return to action at Thurles on New Year's Day. Former winner, Kemboy could also run for Ireland's Champion Trainer, along with Cheltenham Gold Cup entrant Franco De Port.
Gordon Elliott will run Fury Road, who won a Grade One over this course-and-distance as a novice last season. Grand National bound Any Second Now and The Big Dog round off the entries for the main event on day one of the Dublin Racing Festival.

I'm not convinced the Gold Cup course-and-distance will suit Galopin Des Champs. Seeing out three miles around Leopardstown, however, is much easier and the favourite jumped beautifully on both of his starts at this venue last season. Galopin Des Champs is, undoubtedly, the most likely winner, but 1/3 isn't a price I'll be getting involved with.
When the betting without Galopin Des Champs opens up, Stattler will be the short-priced favourite, with Kemboy sitting just behind. I was disappointed when Stattler couldn't beat Minella Indo on his reappearance and he could easily get outpaced around Leopardstown. Kemboy followed Conflated home over Christmas and remains in very good form. He is 11-years-old now though, and I'd rather back a younger rival to get the better of him.
FURY ROAD kept on well to finish a solid third in the Savills Chase, having lost his position along the backstraight when the pace began to crank up. On his reappearance, Gordon Elliott's charge battled back bravely to win a Grade Two at Down Royal, where Fury Road was giving over a stone to the runner-up over a trip many feared would be too sharp.
Elliott's nine-year-old has 55-lengths to make up on Galopin Des Champs from last year's Dublin Racing Festival. That race was over 2m5f though, and Jack Kennedy's mount faded quickly after a telling mistake at the fourth-last. I expect Fury Road to finish a lot closer to Galopin Des Champs over this three-mile trip and it wouldn't be a shock if Davy Russell's mount followed the favourite home.
Verdict
Not wanting to take Galopin Des Champs on, I'll delve into the betting without the favourite market when it opens up and back Fury Road, who has been in good form this season and boasts plenty of valuable course form.
