Irish Champions Weekend draws to a fitting conclusion at the Curragh on Sunday. Four Group One races feature on the card, including the Irish version of the St Leger which, unlike the British St Leger, is open to horses of three-years-old or over.

2024 Irish St Leger Entries
Kyprios held off Hamish to win the Irish St Leger during his dominant 2022 season. Aidan O'Brien's star finished a close second to Eldar Eldarov on his first start of an injury-curtailed campaign last year, but O'Brien's top stayer will return to the Curragh on the back of four straight victories this term and Kyprios is the odds-on favourite to claim his second Classic win.
Giavellotto has taken his game to a new level this term, winning the Yorkshire Cup and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, and Marco Botti's stable star sits third in the market. Willie Mullins will be represented by Melbourne Cup-bound Vauban, who enters his first Group One on the back of an impressive victory in the Lonsdale Cup.
Karl Burke has entered Al Qareem, who's a short price to win the Stand Cup at Chester on Saturday. Wayne Lordan rides The Euphrates for Aidan O'Brien, who has plenty to find on his three-year-old performances. Crypto Force steps up to 14-furlongs, have never really looked like he wanted to go further than ten. The field is completed by two German raiders in Waldadler and Nastaria, both of whom have never won at higher than Listed level.

2024 Irish St Leger Tips
Once Al Qareem has been taken out, the bookies will have this Classic as a three-horse race. I'd whittle that down to two, as Vauban has never really struck me as a Group One horse on the flat. An Irish St Leger victory would push his rating up towards the 120 mark too, which would leave Mullins' star lumbering top-weight in the upcoming Melbourne Cup.
Kyprios is an outstanding horse and I have no worries about him dropping down in trip. GIAVELLOTTO (11/4) has established himself as a 14-furlong specialist this term and, at the prices, I'd rather side with Marco Botti's raider.
Giavellotto looked superb when destroying Vauban in the Yorkshire Cup. Oisin Murphy's mount was just as impressive over a shorter trip in the Princess Of Wales's Stakes, where Botti's five-year-old bolted up under a penalty.
Murphy is rushing back from Canada to take the ride and the Champion Jockey has been vital to Giavellotto's progress this year. There's just one pound between him and Kyprios in terms of rating. This should be a fascinating showdown.
