We take a look through the betting for the feature on day two of Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh, and provide readers with our Irish St Leger tips.

The day after British fans were wowed by the St Leger at Doncaster, Ireland stages their own version of that fabled Classic. The Irish St Leger was first held at the Curragh over a century ago. Unlike the British equivalent, older horses can take on three-year-olds in Sunday's main event, and the current Irish St Leger betting is extremely competitive.

Aidan O'Brien is no stranger to success in this fabled Classic, and it's his main entrant, Sovereign who heads the market. Sovereign has not won since that shock triumph in last year's Irish Derby. This season, O'Brien's colt has finished third behind Twilight Payment in the Vintage Crop Stakes over this trip, before following Enable home in the King George.

Seamie Heffernan didn't give his mount a hard time when he returned to action here in June, and the duo ran a good race behind Enable at Ascot. This has obviously been the target all season, and Sovereign will by fully wound-up to go at the Curragh this weekend.

Twilight Payment got off the mark for the season in the Vintage Stakes. Joseph O'Brien's seven-year-old then destroyed stablemate, Master Of Reality to win the Curragh Cup on his most recent start.

Impressive Ebor winner, Fujaira Prince will make his Irish debut this weekend. Roger Varian's six-year-old has impressed with two huge handicap wins at Royal Ascot and York this term, and fully deserves a crack at a Group One.

Dermot Weld watched Search For A Song lower Kew Gardens' colours to win her first Group One here 12 months ago. Things haven't quite gone to plan in 2020 so far, but the defending champion cannot be discounted.

Willie Mullins will throw talented four-year-old, Micro Manage into the fray on Sunday. Colin Keane's mount was finished third behind the progressive Delphi on her only start of the season in the Leger Trial last month, and he'll be a horse to follow over hurdles during the National Hunt season.

Passion made a winning debut over this trip in the Stannera Stakes last month, but I doubt whether she has the class to really contend at Group One level.

Barbados has been a nearly-horse since moving to Jessica Harrington's yard. Raa Atoll rounds off the field, and it would be a huge shock if Luke Comer's five-year-old were to contend, having spent 450-days off the track.

Sovereign has all the credentials you need to rise to this sort of test, and the favourite is sure to run a true race. Fujaira Prince may be untested in pattern races, but the Ebor often throws up a Group One horses and Roger Varian's gelding will relish this challenge.

At the current odds, though, I think the best bet in Sunday's race is SEARCH FOR A SONG.

Dermot Weld's filly ran out a convincing winner of this race 12 months ago, beating a rival rated 119 - higher than anything she faces on Sunday - by over two lengths.

A limp performance over ten-furlongs on her reappearance was followed by a failure to finish at Cork, where Oisin Orr pulled his mount up soon after she slipped rounding the first bend. Orr dropped Search For A Song out the back when last seen in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, and Weld will have been pleased to see his Classic winner power home late on to cross the line a never-nearer third.

Search For A Song has been running over shorter trips this season, and proved she was in good form when staying on past the likes of Armory and Leo De Fury over ten furlongs. She's clearly much more effective over staying distances, and Weld has freshened his stable star up for another crack at this Classic.

The history of the Irish St Leger is littered with multiple winners. Search For A Song has every chance of adding her names to that list on Sunday.

Verdict

Search For A Song ran out a worthy winner over a higher-quality field in this race last year. She may not be gaining as much weight on the colts this time around, but I think she's been dangerously overlooked in the current market.
