2019 King George VI Chase tips

Might Bite went a shocker in the Grade 1 Betfair Chase last start when running last and some 29 lengths behind Bristol De Mai, but we're expecting a much better run here and so are bettors.

Trained by Nicky Henderson, who has dominated this race in the past, Might Bite's previous form would take him close to winning. He won the Betway Bowl as the odds-on favourite over Bristol De Mai and a handful of other race-rivals here. That performance would be enough to see him go close here but bookmakers are treading carefully with the 3.50 odds on offer.

The seven-time Chase winner will need to recover after his last start failure but the nine-year-old has class on his side and our backing as the King George VI Chase best bet.

On form alone, Bristol De Mai has to be considered after win in the Betfair Chase and with over £506,000 in earnings in chase races, punters can put some faith in the seven-year-old from the Nigel Twiston-Davies stable.

The son of Saddler Maker finished seven lengths behind Might Bite in their previous meeting but confidence can be key in these races and bettors should take plenty of confidence from the odds on offer.

Our next best tip is clearly Waiting Patiently, which hasn't quite been tested against this level of opposition but does come into this with a win in the Ascot Chase where he defeated Cue Card by 2.75 lengths.

Unbeaten over six chase races, the Ruth Jefferson-trained gelding could be the fresh horse on the scene and we wouldn't put it past him winning this. 6.00 is well worth taking if Might Bite doesn't hit out like his last start.

Best Bet: Might Bite to win @ 3.50
Best Each Way: Bristol De Mai @ 8.00
Include in selections: Waiting Patiently @ 6.00
