2019 Manikato Stakes Betting Tips, Best Bookmakers & Free Bets

The Manikato Stakes is a featured Group 1 which kicks off a two-day carnival at Moonee Valley.

Held for Australia’s best sprinters, the Manikato Stakes has a different look to it this season. None of The Everest runners are backing up, instead we have an age-group star heading the betting.

Bivouac is the odds-on favourite to win and rightfully so, but can the even field cause an upset this Friday night?

2019 Manikato Stakes Best Bet – Bivouac @ 1.80

Bivouac has shown great form this season and although he has yet to race against older horses, he runs the times.

Trained by James Cummings, the three-year-old by Exceed And Excel has won five of his nine starts, including a win over Yes Yes Yes last start at Rosehill.

That form has since been franked by Yes Yes Yes winning The Everest and that’s a main reason why Bivouac is the odds-on favourite here.

Drawing barrier one and running with only 53kg on his back is a huge positive.

His current odds of 1.80 should stay firm as there hasn’t been much early support for any other runner.

2019 Manikato Stakes Best Each Way – The Bostonian @ 6.50

The Bostonian carries the big weight but he has Group 1 wins to his record and that’s a big plus against this field.

He’s a Kiwi-trained runner for Tony Pike, which finished nicely for third behind Trekking in the Scillachi Stakes and Trekking has since placed in The Everest.

He has been warming up nicely for this run and he should run well in his grand final.

The Bostonian is a winner of almost $1.3 million and with nine wins from 19 starts, he deserves to be respected.

2019 Manikato Stakes Best Roughie – Anaheed @ 15.00

Anaheed isn’t quite up to this level of racing, but getting in with only 51kg on her back makes her a threat.

The Snowden-trained filly is a four-time winner from 10 starts and there are some positives in her favour.

The light weight is ideal and she gets Tim Clark in the saddle. He is the best front-running jockey in Australia and we’re expecting Anaheed to ride the pace.

If she is able to get a soft lead in front, she has the ability to give a kick at the top of the straight.

Moonee Valley is ideal for front runners and Anaheed fits the bill nicely.

Verdict

Bivouac is the odds-on favourite and it's tough to disagree with his form this season. He has form around Yes Yes Yes and that bodes well.

The Bostonian is the best proven Group 1 winner in the field and shouldn't be overlooked.

Anaheed is a light weight danger with some luck.
