2019 Cantala Stakes Best Bet – Night's Watch @ 6.00

Night’s Watch hasn’t won a race in some time now, but that was an encouraging effort to run second last start.

It came behind Fierce Impact in the Toorak Handicap and it snapped a run of poor performances for the former Darren Weir runner.

Royal Meeting is trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and although beaten first-up in Australia, he has improvement to come.

The son of Invincible Spirit finished third behind Streets of Avalon in the Moonga Stakes and although that’s not Group 1 level, he was always going to improve.

Stepping up in distance from 1400m to 1600m is ideal and we liked the way he battled to the line at Caulfield.

Running down the long Flemington straight is going to feel like home for Royal Meeting, which is why he’s a strong winning chance.

2019 Cantala Stakes Best Roughie – Rock @ 13.00

Rock has been in great form this season and he’s a Group 1 winner in the making.

The Hawkes-trained four-year-old won the Cameron Handicap at Newcastle by a length before running fifth in the Epsom Handicap.

That form has been franked by Te Akau Shark running third in the Cox Plate and Rock had more to give during that run.

He should get into this race nicely on the weights and we’re confident that he’ll give each-way punters a great sight.
