2019 Kennedy Oaks Best Bet – Vegas Jewel @ 4.00
Vegas Jewel might have been beaten in the Ethereal Stakes leading into the Kennedy Oaks, but she wasn’t disgraced.
The Mark Kavanagh-trained filly by Shocking raced wide throughout and stuck on gamely to finish second behind Gamay.
Her two starts prior both resulted in wins. The first came at Echuca before she scored convincingly at Moonee Valley by 2.5 lengths.
That win signaled her potential class and she lost no admirers when running a neck behind Gamay on October 19.
If she gets a better draw for the Oaks, she’s going to be very tough to hold out.
Her breeding suggests that the 2500m distance will hold no fears.

Gamay posted a quality win last time out and she could continue in that vein of form here.
The filly by Pierro has finished in the first two in four of her five career starts and that form is tough to overlook.

Ocean Miss wasn’t that far behind the likes of Gamay and Vegas Jewel last start, so she should be included here.
The David and Coral Feek-trained runner doesn’t have a high-profile stable behind her, but her performances have been solid.
She’s a maiden winner at Sale which then ran fourth in the Oaks trial behind Celestial Falls and Gamay.
That form has since stacked up nicely and she’ll appreciate the rise in distance.
The well-bred daughter of Ocean Park has upside and will provide punters with good value at double-figure odds.
