British trainer, James Ferguson has confirmed that talented three-year-old Deauville Legend - winner of both the Bahrain Trophy and Great Voltigeur Stakes this season - is being lined up for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup. German raider Loft had topped the betting alongside Deauville Legend, but Marcel Weiss' four-year-old was found to be lame on Thursday and he will no longer run in the Melbourne Cup.
After Loft was withdrawn, another British raider, Simon & Ed Crisford's Without A Fight was backed into a single-figure price. Caulfield Cup runner-up, Gold Trip came in form support following an encouraging run in the Cox Plate. Caulfield Cup fourth Montefillia also sits prominently in the betting. As does Epsom Derby runner-up Hoo Ya Mal, who will make his first appearance for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Edward Cummings' Duais, winner of both the Tancred Stakes and Australia Cup back in the Spring, sits around the 16/1 mark. Ben & JD Hayes have entered up new recruit Camorra, a Group Two winner for Ger Lyons earlier in the season. James Cummings' Alegron will fly the flag for Godolphin. Impressive Turnbull Stakes winner, Smokin' Romans also sits prominently in the betting.
Ciaron Maher & David Eustace could also be represented by Interpretation. Danny O'Brien's Young Werther can be backed at 20/1, with Knights Order a little further adrift at 25s. Other notable Melbourne Cup entrants include Lunar Flare, Realm Of Flowers and 2019 winner, Vow And Declare.
