The opening day of York's Dante meeting is headlined by the Group Three Musidora Stakes. Whereas the Dante is a key trial for the Epsom Derby, the Musidora is a trial for the Oaks, and six horses have completed the double at York and Epsom since this race was created in 1961.

We've taken a look through the runners set to line up in Wednesday's feature and picked out our best betting tips.

Teona tops the betting here, having impressed on the all-weather as a juvenile last season. Roger Varian's filly ran on well to finish second on debut, before powering clear of her rivals to win easily over 10 furlongs second time out.

Sitting second in the market we find Noon Star, who's won twice since placing third on her career debut in September. Sir Michael Stoute's charge comfortably beat Ocean Road at Nottingham on her final two-year-old start, and justified odds-on favouritism with a fine performance on her reappearance at Wetherby.

Mystery Angel ended a run of six straight defeats with a strong victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month. George Boughey's filly had race-fitness and course form on her side that day, and made the most of both when beating a very inexperienced field on the Rowley Mile. Whether she can repeat that showing in deeper waters is a subject for debate.

Senita was fairly consistent at two, but struggled on her three-year-old return at Newbury, finishing last of seven behind Hurricane Lane. John Gosden has fitted headgear for the first time to try and help his free-going filly settle, and it'll have to work if Frankie Dettori's mount is to have a chance.

Snowfall repeatedly came up a long way short at the highest level in Ireland as a juvenile. Aidan O'Brien must be confident his raider has improved to chuck her into the Musidora on her first start of the season. However, from his 20 runners in Britain in 2021, O'Brien has had just three winners, two of which were rated above 120. Snowfall is respected, but not particularly feared.

Auria impressed when winning at Kempton last season, and ran an excellent race to place second on her return Ascot, despite the quick ground seemingly going against her. Andrew Balding's stable have started the season well, and it wouldn't be a shock if this half-sister to Beat The Bank ran well.

I'll be keeping a close eye on Auria, as I think she's been overlooked in the market. Teona clearly has a bundle of ability and it wouldn't be a shock to see her challenging. Yet, it's NOON STAR who certainly brings the strongest form to that table, and I'll be siding with Sir Michael Stoute's filly.

On Saturday, we saw Sherbet Lemon hold on from the front to win the Oaks Trial at Lingfield, beating Ocean Road into third and Loving Dream into fifth. Sherbet Lemon was beaten eight-lengths by Noon Star at Wetherby. Loving Dream crossed the line a well-beaten second that day, and Noon Star handed Ocean Road a three-length beating when they met as juveniles last season.

Noon Star is by an Epsom Derby winner in Galileo, and out of six-time Grade One winner in Midday, who also finished a close second in the 2009 Oaks to that year's Musidora winner, Sariska. There's no doubting Noon Star is bred to be an Epsom Oaks contender, and victory here would see Sir Michael's filly jump up to second in the betting for that Classic.

Verdict

Noon Star's dominant victory at Wetherby was boosted at Lingfield over the weekend. Sir Michael Stoute's horses are going well at the moment, and this daughter of Galileo has the potential to go right to the top in 2021.
