One of New Zealand's biggest thoroughbred races runs at Riccarton on November 9 where the best three-year-olds line up in the Group 1 2000 Guineas.

The field is packed with talent and it should be an exciting affair.

It was a dominant win from Madison Country, who handled the extremely heavy conditions the best. She was the best-backed runner in the field and we thought we would go well. Here's what we said in our race analysis.

"The stablemate to The Chosen One didn't have much go his way at Te Rapa last start when running third behind Sword of Osman. Te Rapa is a leaders' bias track and he simply got too far back to make a winning run.

His start prior was a terrific win during the Hastings Spring Carnival and there should be good speed up front here, which will allow him to find his feet and come with a big burst down the outside.

The son of Pins will have no problem seeing out the distance and his big-race experience should take him close."

Finished in second was the previously unbeaten Dawn Patrol, who we selected as our best roughie chance.

"Another unbeaten runner, the Frank Ritchie-trained gelding looks a good chance to provide punters with value each way returns. The well-bred son of Dawn Approach has been bullish in both wins to date and he looks a nice type for the future.

His size could bully his opposition into submission at Riccarton and with both wins coming by over a length, he has a class edge. There are no worries that he'll get the distance and the only issue will be getting him to run professionally throughout.

He has shown signs of immaturity but the best Dawn Patrol would go close to winning."
