Lockinge Stakes day at Newbury (Pictures and Results)

All eyes were on Baaeed at Newbury on Saturday, as William Haggas' star put his unbeaten record on the line in the Lockinge Stakes. Jim Crowley's mount was sent off as the 4/9 favourite and went on to produce a magnificent performance, winning his three-straight Group One by four lengths.

Baaeed will now head on to the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, before maybe stepping up in trip for the Juddmonte International later in the summer. QuinnBet were quick to cut Baaeed price for the Queen Anne in from 4/5 to 4/11 favouritism.

Punters enjoyed a profitable afternoon at Newbury, as five of the seven races were won by the favourite. One of the two favourites who failed to oblige was Foxes Tales, who could only finish fourth as Illarab won the Al Rayyan Stakes.

Tiber Flow won the Listed Carnarvon Stakes, the first of three winners on the card for William Haggas. Israr justified favouritism by snatching a narrow victory in the London Gold Cup, and could go on to run in the King George V Stakes Handicap at Royal Ascot.

Persian Force built on his win in the Brocklesby by scoring in the six furlong conditions stakes. Nashwa pleased odds-on backers by winning the Listed Haras De Bouquetot Stakes, before 11/1 shot Muraad won the card-closing handicap for Owen Burrows and that man again, Jim Crowley.
