The eyes of the world were fixed on Longchamp this afternoon, as 15 of flat racing's finest took part in the 2023 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Ace Impact shot to the head of the Arc betting following his victory in the Prix du Jockey Club earlier in the season and Jean-Claude Rouget's three-year-old remained the firm-favourite in the build-up to Sunday's feature.

Hukum, Westover and Continuous maintained their prominent positions in the market. German contender, Fantastic Moon was well-backed during the morning, along with mares Through Seven Seas, Free Wind and Place Du Carrousel.

From the widest stall of all, Simca Mille went forward and made the running, alongside Bay Bridge and My Hollywood. Westover grabbed a decent position on the rail, with Hukum racing wide in the early stages.

Ace Impact, who got very unsettled in the parade ring, was held up towards the rear of the field. Through Seven Seas and Free Wind were also held up in the middle of the pack, as Onesto trailed the field going into the bend.

My Hollywood took the bend in the lead ahead of Hukum and Bay Bridge. Ace Impact made an eye-catching mid-race move to try and close the gap.

As the pace-maker gave way, Rob Hornby was first to commit on Westover, who grabbed a narrow lead. With two furlongs to travel, Cristian Demuro unleashed Ace Impact and the race was all over. The favourite bounded into a clear lead and Demuro punched the air as Ace Impact sealed an emphatic victory.

Westover held on well to place second ahead of Onesto, who made up plenty of ground from the rear of the field. Through Seven Seas did Japan proud with a fourth-place finish, as Continuous ran on well late on to place fifth.
