While Irish eyes will be fixed on Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh, Longchamp stages a top-quality card of their own this Sunday.

The Grand Prix de Paris is the main event. Potential Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe contenders will also have their chance to shine in both the Prix Foy and the Prix Vermeille.

Let's take a look at the five major races at Longchamp on Sunday and see who might come out on top.

Arc Trial Tips

Race 1 - Prix du Petit Couvert Tips

The Abbaye could be the long-term goal for a couple of the sprinters in here. Most notably WOODED, who drops back to the minimum distance for the first time, having been beaten over three lengths in Group Ones over seven and six-and-a-half furlongs.

Francois-Henri Graffard's charge had enough speed to win over six furlongs on his reappearance, and was far from disgraced in both the Prix Jean Prat and the Maurice de Gheest. He may not be a real speedster, but Wooded should have enough class to pass this test.

Race 2 - Grand Prix de Paris Tips

It's hard to side against Serpentine, considering the performance he produced to win the Epsom Derby. However, recent Derby winners have struggled after scoring at Epsom, and Serpentine took a while to shake off the after-effects of that Classic-winning effort.

I'm going to take a chance on HIGHLAND CHIEF, who could relish the conditions out in France. Having finished just behind Mogul at Goodwood, Highland Chief came through to follow Pyledriver home in the Great Voltigeur Stakes last time out.

Paul Cole's charge loves to arrive on the scene late. Those tactics often pay dividends out in France, and Highland Chief will relish the softer underfoot conditions.

Race 3 - Prix Vermeille Tips

RAABIHAH has been touted as many as an outsider to watch out for in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, and it's easy to see why. Having finished a close fourth behind three classy Irish horses in the Prix Diane, Jean Claude Rouget's filly powered to a simple victory in the Prix de Psyche over ten furlongs.

True, Raabihah faced little competition in that Group Three, but the odds-on favourite couldn't have looked any more convincing. By former Arc winner, Sea The Stars, this step up in trip should suit Raabihah, and she should warm up for a tilt at Europe's most prestigious flat race with a simple victory on Sunday.

Race 4 - Prix Foy Tips

Stradivarius is the class act in this field, over staying trips. A mile-and-a-half is a different story, however, and I'd rather rake Frankie Dettori's mount on with WAY TO PARIS.

Andrea Marcialis's charge may be a year older than Stradivarius, but his last three performances have been the best of his career so far. Way To Paris romped home in the Grand Prix de Chantilly. After a very narrow defeat to Sottsass over ten furlongs, Pierre-Charles Boudot's mount swooped late to beat Nagano Gold and Ziyad in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

The margin of victory was just a head that day, but Boudot had to come from right at the back of the pack, and his victory looked a little snug in the end. I fancy Way To Paris could end Stradivarius' Arc dreams with a second Group One win on Sunday.

Race 5 - Prix du Pin Tips

A much easier puzzle to solve in the final big race of the afternoon. EARTHLIGHT really should be good enough to win this. Andre Fabre's star lost his unbeaten record in the Prix Maurice de Gheest, but he didn't run badly when finishing a close fourth. Earthlight can get back on the winners' trail here, and the Prix Foret might be next on Arc day.
