We take a look through the 2020 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe odds, where Love and Enable are locked in a battle for favouritism.

Europe's most famous flat race takes place on the first Sunday in October, as some of the world's best middle-distance horses do battle in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

We may still be a couple of weeks away from the main event of the season at Longchamp, but the betting is already starting to hot up!

Two horses dominate the betting for this year's Arc. The first of those is Love, who's enjoyed a stunning three-year-old campaign thus far.

Aidan O'Brien's filly won the 1000 Guineas and the Oaks at Epsom without even breaking a sweat. Love warmed up for a tilt at the Arc with another bloodless victory in the Yorkshire Oaks, and she certainly seems the one to beat.

Second in the market we find Enable, who wasn't particularly impressive when winning the September Stakes at Kempton last time out.

Having gone down fighting to Ghaiyyath in the Coral-Eclipse, Enable trounced two out-of-form Aidan O'Brien horses to win her third King George at Ascot.

John Gosden's super-mare will now attempt to become just the first horse to ever win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe three times and, despite the workmanlike nature of her Kempton win, she's too classy to ever be counted out.

2020 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Runners

There's then a sizeable gap in the betting until we reach Stradivarius. John Gosden's superstar stayer was beaten by Anthony Van Dyck in his trial for the Arc in the Prix Foy. That hasn't stopped connections from prioritising a tilt at the Arc, though, and this seven-time Group One winner should give a good account of himself.

Another multiple Group One winner, Magical also feature in the betting. Aidan O'Brien's mare lowered Ghaiyyath's colours in the Irish Champion Stakes last time out. While she would be a worthy runner in the Arc, the Champion Stakes at Ascot looks her most likely target and, although she ran in both races 12 months ago, I'd be shocked if she wasn't saved for Ascot.

Ghaiyyath has been one of the stars of the 2020 season, despite that loss to Magical at Leopardstown. He too will have the Champion Stakes on his radar, and his sliding odds suggest another tilt at the Arc is off the cards.

Mogul finally fulfilled his potential with an impressive victory in the Grand Prix de Paris, run over the same course-and-distance at the Arc. Aidan O'Brien wouldn't be afraid to throw Mogul in with Love, and he looks to be a colt who's still on the upgrade.

Surprise Derby winner, Serpentine could only finish fourth behind Mogul last time out. That was his first run since that stunning performance in the Derby, however, and O'Brien's Classic winner is entitled to come on for the run.

The highest-placed French representative in the betting is Raabihah, despite her shock defeat in the Prix Vermeille on Trials day. Jean-Claude Rouget's filly still boasts enough form to warrant a run in the Arc, but will have to improve, and quickly.

Sottsass stayed on for third behind Waldgeist and Enable in the 2019 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Rouget's hasn't run his four-year-old over a mile-and-a-half this season, and returns to Longchamp on the back of a two-length defeat in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Other notable names in the betting include Telecaster, who's won two pattern races in France this season. Prix de Diane and Nassau Stakes winner, Fancy Blue could be Donnacha O'Brien's first runner in the Arc.

German Derby winner, In Swoop followed Mogul home in the Grand Prix de Paris, and could take his chance in the Arc. As could the likes of Japan, Deidre and Ocean Atlantique.
